I am recovering from a foot fracture and have to use crutches to take the weight and help balance when walking, although I can drive without problem. I used a blue badge space at Asda because the road surface was wet and slippery and the normal spaces tight when I tried to open the car door to retrieve my crutches from the rear seat. After shopping I returned to find a notice on my car from a company called Town and City Parking asking for payment. The custpmer services in the store were unsympathetic and advised me to telephone Town and City Parking and 'speak to them nicely' I want to refuse to pay outright. There were people parked with blue badges with better mobility than I have at the present time.Anyone out there had a similar experience and how did you handle it?

People like you get right up my nose. Did you know what was wrong with them? No you didn't you made assumptions didn't you.

On a good day i look normal, walk kinda normal, with a stick... would of loved you to come up and confront me, with your attitude you would of had my stick around your neck.

    But back to your post.

A, you shouldn't of parked there, but seeing as it's private land and a private company you can rip the notice up and [STRIKE]shove it right up your a[/STRIKE] throw it in the bin.

B, Don't be so judgemental, wish all I had was a fractured foot.

We are on the side of disabled motorists but two things:

    1. The Blue Badge scheme doesn't apply on private land (never, ever, not even with signs).

    2. It's 'shouldn't have', not shouldn't of (I normally ignore stuff like that but 'should of' gets my goat as it's such an illiterate turn of phrase, sorry).

So the poster should have and could have parked there with impunity as she needed the reasonable adjustment of closer parking bays, offered by the retailer. It's a requirement of the DDA, and yes, I do know what I am talking about.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

    Sorry Coupon-mad

Have brain fog today, one of those things with MS.

I agree that yes on private land, we can ignore the private parking companies.

But this posters attitude to 'other bb holders' got right up my nose.

The thing is that ppc's doesn't care if people are disabled, people who for one reason or another do not display a badge can get a ticket, they appeal saying that they are in fact disabled and its turned down no matter the circumstances.

What gets up my nose are two things , one a charity supposedly there to fight for disabled rights for its members are directly profitting by telling its disabled drivers caught out by the above, to pay these tickets when they know the bays are advisory only, its sickening !

Also its estimated that half of badge holders should not hold one, due to them not being disabled, now that is a system that does not work.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

I think you are being somewhat harsh. He's just saying his mobility was bad, and appeared to be worse than other people of whom had Blue Badges - a simple observation. Don't read anymore into it.

Save the stick bashing for the PPCs :)

In the disabled space. 10am in the morning and I would still park in the disabled space

    Glad you said that.
It makes me feel better when I pinch the last mother and toddler space, even though my kids are adults now.

To be fair then, if you think you're good enough to have the op in a fight, indeed to offer to start one, I guess you think you probably are more mobile than him really.
