Juliepink26 wrote:You bought there products and they didnt give you samples  , you are a paying consumer you have every right to have them samples. Trust me i wouldnt of bought the product untill i got the samples, you really have to be a bit more confident dont let there grumpy faces put you off! Ive actually stod in the middle of jhon lewis and demanded my samples off the Lancome counter, i had a voucher and didnt leave till i got them. Dont worry about asking, the worst thing they can say is no! I usually hover near but wait till i see them open the sample draw then i know what to ask for, if they say they dont have any, i say but i just saw them in the draw! They cant say no then.
I think it also helps to dress the part, Last time i wore armani jacket, dior handbag, diamond jewelry really glam up, they assume you have money to spend. Dont give up!
(succumbed to trying to look good for me wedding - even though I am very big) Quote, I know very large women who are both beautfull and sexy dont let your size get you down you need to feel good about your self. After i had my baby i put on loads of weight, but out walking looking for samples ive really burnt it off...
i agree totally- those sa's were horrid to you especially as you were a payign customer, in future ask for samples first and if they say no, tell them youll buy elsewhere, i reckon theyll find you something! be assertive, draw you shoulders forward, stand tall and straight, look them right in teh eye, talk loudly and evenly, be nice and polite but firm. good luck for next time- and dont take any !!!!!!!!!
also, my samplign missions are fab exercise- walking all round manchester or trafford centre! plus, blokes love a bit of sothing to grab hold of, id rather be curvy than one of those size 0 freak-shows! :P:T The best things in life are FREE! :T0 -
michica wrote:you are right juliepink! it helps when i dress up too, i put on all my nice clothes, gucci handbag, heavy make up on me so that they think i am someone that is interested and may be able to afford their products. very good tip
I dress up nicely too but I usually wear no make up at all. Not even a foundation. Then I tell I'm a newbie to make-up and seriously considering to start taking care of my skin and don't know which product would suit me. Then the SAs would try some cream on my skin to see the effect or give me a make-up session and when I ask for samples, they would actually give me some that I can use myself0 -
indebtdoll wrote:The chanel woman laughed in my face when i asked about the mascara saying 'it went a long time ago' and just dismissed me.
I bought a foundation from clarins boots but the sa was just off hand and i didnt ask for any samples. Then i went to debenhams. Showed my Glamour mag to the biotherm sa (she and a guy sa were standing there) She said 'no we dont have them' but the guy said they did. He got me the brush kit and moisturiser and he talked to me about my skin. Then I said thanks and left (ran off). I didnt ask for lancome hypnose samples (from back of debenhams) - the sas's looked like they dont give anything out. i also found the actual lancome sa's intimidating so didnt get the over 50 cream.
Basically I am happy with my shampoo, brush set and ginger cream. But its very hard to get samples. Sa's are rude and just dont want to give anything out! Nevermind...online freebies may be the way to got for me right now!
Ps. The biotherm man's advice was good though. My skin's messed up!! Oily yet hydrated. Hehe.
indebtdoll, not sure whereabouts you live, but if you are anywhere near London try Debenhams, Oxford street for the chanel mascara. The SA gave me two the other day, plus a foundation sample and a sample of allure sensual (I'm tempted to buy a bottle!).
I got my Biotherm brushes yesterday from H of F. I didn't get the new moisture intense guard, but she gave me three creams to try instead, so cannot grumble! she said my skin was in really good nick...must be down to all the free samples I keep getting, ha! Oh, and she didn't tear the page out of the glamour mag, so I am going to try and get another set of brushes for one of my sisters.
I agree with what everyone else has said about not being afraid to ask for samples, especially when you are buying stuff from them. If any SA are rude to me I will walk out and spend my hard earned cash elsewhere.0 -

Yeah I feel more energised after yesterday!
I will also be taking my vouchers (lancome, chanel) to boots christmas evening this thursday down brent x. Maybe they will have some left (the chanel mascara is gorgeous!)
I also got a 1.30 vioucher off new woman so may buy another issue and get a palette - the one i got was nice and its better to get a free one (or 1.50 for mag) and give it as a pressie - cos the current benefits make up sets are expensive.
I will also try to be more confident and strong - lets see what happens.0 -

i wear my usual make-up which is lancome and at teh other counters i say 'well id really only use lancome but...' and at lancome i say 'i use your make-up but ive never though to try your skin care...' and i use clarins skin care so at the other counters (especially clinique, theyre deathly rivals!) i say im not very happy with it (which i am!) and at clarins i ask about new thinsg to try and special treatments hehe!:T The best things in life are FREE! :T0 -

hiya-
thanks for jina's, freebie junkie, mbn, indebtdoll advice!
went to MK today, in HoF, i spoke to the clinique SA for ages about the skincare product that may be suitable to me, using the i am interested in your product approac before i asked for a sample, and got two 3-step daily kit!!!
noone in lancome counter and estee lauder (never have anybody in hof!) and the lady in dior gave me 3 dior capture 60/80 sample, like the one we had last year...
debenhams, no SA in lancome and clinique and estee lauder... didnt want to goto biotherm again because i only got my brush set last week and it was same SA... got some origin sample (they squeeze them into little tub for you), first the lady said there is not sample in store AT ALL, then after a long conversation about i am interested in their exfoliating cream, she put some tester into small tub and gave them to me- so what was all that about?!?
boots- got given one lancome cream only...
john lewis- clinique night cream, i asked SA in estee lauder for night serum with voucher, and she said to me i came in last weekand for the same sample and she recognised me... of course i denied it!!! oh and a sachet of eve lom resuce mask!!!
thanks everyone for information. lets keep tis up!!!0
