I have recently started to show interest in eye creams (the first fine lines
), so I never miss an opportunity to ask about this kind of products. It does show interest, and I also get the chance to find out more about products which I'm not very familiar with.
some of the SAs are so good at selling and the products look/feel so great that I'm often tempted to buy the products!
must resist! :rotfl:
I also have sensitive skin and allergies (not to perfume and cosmetics) and once I started to have red spots on my wrist because of a carrier bag. I was on my way to Debenhams. I asked the SA for samples to take home and try because I have skin problems (showed her my wrist
). She grabbed a bag and gave me whatever samples she could find in her drawer, at least 10

when the Sa asked if she could help, I told her I was new to this and would like to have some advice about what type of cream I need or should I start using anti-aging, etc. I always ask SAs to write down the product details and prices to show my interests and when she gave me a brochure, she wrote the details down. That's when I asked her if she had any samples I could take home and try. I also asked a few questions about the samples. Just to show interest really
i always do that, get them to give me a brochure or write down the product name ans selling price before i ask for a sample, always good to show a bit of interest!:T The best things in life are FREE! :T0 -

I went into town today. I got the free boots haircare product which was handy. The chanel woman laughed in my face when i asked about the mascara saying 'it went a long time ago' and just dismissed me. Ditto for lancome hypnose samples (from inside boots mag).
I bought a foundation from clarins boots but the sa was just off hand and i didnt ask for any samples. Then i went to debenhams. Showed my Glamour mag to the biotherm sa (she and a guy sa were standing there) She said 'no we dont have them' but the guy said they did. He got me the brush kit and moisturiser and he talked to me about my skin. Then I said thanks and left (ran off). I didnt ask for lancome hypnose samples (from back of debenhams) - the sas's looked like they dont give anything out. i also found the actual lancome sa's intimidating so didnt get the over 50 cream.
I got the ginger sample from 'In Style' magazine in john lewis. No lancome face samples in john lewis (not offered an alternative) no hypnose samples in selfridges.
I also bought dior powder and got 3 little dior skin cleansers - they only give them out nowadays methinks - fair enough - but i dont use them that much.
I then bought a abs cream from Biotherm in HOF (succumbed to trying to look good for me wedding - even though I am very big) and got a a few sachets, 1small cream with it. By then I had given up anyway but will keep the items to use.
Basically I am happy with my shampoo, brush set and ginger cream. But its very hard to get samples. Sa's are rude and just dont want to give anything out! Nevermind...online freebies may be the way to got for me right now!
I do like those buy 2 items and get a beauty pack - sometimes you get some great bags and kits - Elizabeth Arden has a good one in john lewis and lancome too @ the moment.
Ps. The biotherm man's advice was good though. My skin's messed up!! Oily yet hydrated. Hehe.0 -
You bought there products and they didnt give you samples  , you are a paying consumer you have every right to have them samples. Trust me i wouldnt of bought the product untill i got the samples, you really have to be a bit more confident dont let there grumpy faces put you off! Ive actually stod in the middle of jhon lewis and demanded my samples off the Lancome counter, i had a voucher and didnt leave till i got them. Dont worry about asking, the worst thing they can say is no! I usually hover near but wait till i see them open the sample draw then i know what to ask for, if they say they dont have any, i say but i just saw them in the draw! They cant say no then.
I think it also helps to dress the part, Last time i wore armani jacket, dior handbag, diamond jewelry really glam up, they assume you have money to spend. Dont give up!
(succumbed to trying to look good for me wedding - even though I am very big) Quote, I know very large women who are both beautfull and sexy dont let your size get you down you need to feel good about your self. After i had my baby i put on loads of weight, but out walking looking for samples ive really burnt it off...People who live in glass houses shouldnt throw stones...
