I ask: are these management posts really needed? Yet the Con-Dem coalition deems them necessary, at a time when thousands of police officers and other critical employees are threatened with loss of employment. So much for Labour being the only party of waste!

Yes, but if it falls under "diversity" the budget is limitless it appears.

I've been a bit confused recently about how we have to employ people at enormous cost to 'deliver the commitments outlined in the workplan and to support the implementation of the Equality Act 2010' - the sort of job I used to think was probably required due to local government bricking it that they'd be accused of not complying with some obscure EU law.

Then France banned Muslims from wearing veils and sent a load of immigrants back to where they came from.

That was my thought too RfR, though its interesting in it suggests that marklv is ironically egalitarian in his dislikes - not keen on homosexuals as well as immigrants or followers of certain religions.

Those are definitely two jobs that once they're on your CV, will ensure you'll be unemployable in the private sector for the rest of your life.

The people that get offered that type of job are gernerally enemployable in the private sector anyway. Hence the public sector gravy train for PC graduates that know all the right buzzwords.

While I find myself in the rather unseemly position of agreeing with marklv on this point - such roles are unnecessary and, frankly, patronising to the very groups they profess to help - it's intriguing that he has singled out these two particular roles for special attention.

At least we now know that it's not just coloureds, jews and those more successful than him that he despises.

I believe you will find that is a racist term, you would not get a job at the council if you said it at an interview.
