Wouldn't the successful applicants be working for Local Government rather than the Civil Service?

that is hilarious logic. basically any job that someone says is unnecessary must therefore be necessary.

do we need a donkey corraler? not until someone says that we don't need one!

actually i think the point he was making was that the OP demonstrated his own prejudices against the groups the Equalities Act aims to protect - therefore showing that the jobs are actually needed.

The problem here is that it is the legislation that is unnecessary. I have no issue with the workings of the role per se, but why should the government spend money on implementing this less than essential legislation when much more important jobs are being eliminated? It proves that the current government is no less barmy than Labour.

I wonder what the two transgender lawyers who are partners in the 130-year old city law firm in which I work would make of the 'need' for these roles.

If the roles are justifiable because they represent minority groups that people have a problem with, should we also have roles to ensure fair and equal treatment to bankers also?

You can't expect them to fix 13 years worth of mistakes in their first 4 months

No need. i know their views already.

They are equally dismissive of the firm's own Lesbian, Gay and TS Support group which, they say, is implicity patronising because it suggests those groups are somehow weaker and in need of special treatment.

    Oh the irony.
