  • a free Desire HD will cost £40pm

I've given up trying to get my signature to work with the new rules, if nobody knows what the rules are what hope do we have?
  • Mobilechoices.co.uk are claiming that the T-Mobile deal above is for 1200 minutes and unlimited texts and is only for 18 months. They also say that Vodafone will be offering the Desire HD and Z for free on a £35 plan for 24 months with 600 mins and unlimited texts. The same plan on O2 is to cost £30, allegedly (although there has been no official announcement of O2 even stocking the phone yet).

How reliable or accurate their information is, however, is another matter.

Hi Everyone, thank you for starting this thread. I am planning to purchase the new HTC Desire HD from the Play.com website but have a few queries and wonder if anyone could help me please. I'm useless when it comes to mobile phones.
The Play.com site states that the HTC Desire HD is Sim Free Unlocked. Does this mean that I would be able to use any Sim on the phone?
I was actually hoping to get the Tesco Mobile Sim Only GBP10/month rolling contract for the sim free HTC Desire HD. will the Tesco Mobile sim work for the HTC Desire HD? apparently, the tesco sim does not work for the iPhone 4 as it uses a micro sim.
Please could someone help me with these qeuries. Many thanks.

yes,sim free means it runs any network
the durty filthy iphone fashion victim phone just requires a smaller(or trimmed down) sim
it doesnt matter about the network

Thank you Custardy for your kind reply.
  • I'm almost certain I am going to go for the Desire HD. It's quite a leap for me as I have been with Windows Mobile for the last 6 years, but Android looks good.

My concern is the data on the tariffs. The comparison sites that Martin recommends do not list data tariffs very well and don't allow you to search for them.

Also the whole "unlimited" thing needs sorting out. Some networks have a "hard" cap meaning if you go over their limit you have to pay per megabyte. Some have a soft limit meaning that if you go over they may write to you but not charge you for going over.

Smart phones, particularly Android ones, eat data for breakfast. I'm with Orange, and I can't tell you how many times they say that their 500Mb is plenty. One guy I spoke to at Orange said that he had never seen anyone go over the limit. He was extremely surprised when he saw that I had reached 300Mb.

Maybe I should move over to T-Mobile as they have a 3Gb fair use policy.

    What are people's thoughts?

  • I still cant decide on an Iphone 4 or The HTC HD, If the HD's screen wasnt so big i think it would be a no brainer...
