i used Kwik fit a few times in the early 90's and stopped after they fitted the wrong tyre to my car..... jump forward to 2010 and the lease co I have for the car insist i use kwik fit or national..... used kiwik fit guess what, they've just fixed a puntchure and then tell me the two tyres on the front are the wrong weight rating. (same tyre) which may not be a major issue but 20 years no change, will try the other shower next time.

for all our co vans we use a local garage who is great, i do price check them regularlly and are always competitive

Just for a bit of balance, I've used them several times for aircon refills, exhaust replacement, balancing wheels and puncture repair and they've been absolutely fine. Puncture repair was free, and they told me that I needed new front tyres. They were definitely still legal, but quite low on the insides, so I thought that was fair enough. Just got a price off them and drove off, no hard sell or anything.
What I want to know is - who's better? Dealers?!

As above, compare their prices (and guarantees) on quality tyres and exhausts. Few can come close to their prices due to their buying power. Stray away from tyres and exhausts though and you'd be nuts to go there.
  • I went there last month to get my front brakes replaced and they also managed to find a rear tyre that needed replacing too. I paid the bill, the car had to go back a couple of days later because the handbrake no longer worked (they'd disconnected it while they checked the rear brakes which didn't need doing). I also had a moan about the tyre not having a dust cover on the valve.

I sent a message on their website about the shoddy service and they phoned me to discuss it and sent me £50 in vouchers with a letter of apology. Trouble is that I NEVER want to go back there so the vouchers are worthless really.

I had an amazing experience at KwikFit once, I needed a new tyre and the manager asked one of the young (he looked about 18) fitters to do the job. I kid you not - he did the entire operation, tyre removal and fitting new one WITH ONE HAND IN HIS POCKET FROM START TO FINISH!!

Perhaps he was disabled? There's a young fellow with only one arm working on the checkout in my local Co-op. Copes admirably.

I think all their (QF) staff maybe in one form or another. On the other hand probably not, none of them seem to "cope admirably" ;);)
