I haven't been to Kwik Fit for more than 20 years, so things haven't changed.

I had a slow leak 5 years ago, went to an independent tyre place that advertises in the local papers. They pointed to the nail, put in a plug, and balanced the wheel, and charged me £20. I was happy.

Had another slow leak three weeks ago. Happened to chat to a local friend, and he said there was this place only a minute away that does £5 repairs. It was an on street garage with virtually no signs in a side road. Two nails, two plugs, good as new in ten minutes. £10 for two plugs, the tyre didn't even have to come off the wheel. They did over-inflate the tyre somewhat, but I dealt with that easily enough.

So support your local independents. You are not paying for a national TV advertising campaign, for a start.

I never use them after years ago having my exhaust repaired ,
they said I also needed additional work doing costing £240.

Luckily my dads friend had his own mot center and checked it out and told me theres nothing wrong with it .

So I now call Quick Fit "QUICK CON"

They tried to sell me four shock absorbers I didn't need 25 years ago. I've never been back.

Ok watched this last night........ Im very disapointed that watchdog didn't ask the burning question regarding whether their employee's are paid a commission or bonus for drumming up additional sales!!!! They should also have mentioned that certain other tyre/exhaust chains are just as bad!!

i pretty certain this story will escalate and by next weeks watchdog these cowboys will be hung out to dry

nice to hear kw!k !!!!!! reply last night was the normal bullsh!t spouted by big companies ie all our staff are fully trained, anybody caught misselling will be investigated and ther will be a full review

    yea right

I doubt anything will happen, there was a similar expose on Watchdog about similar practices from Kwik Fit a good few years ago. They did nothing then either

I watched Watchdog and this story regards Kwik-Fit this week.

I too have had a number of problems with Kwik-Fit, I have posted it on this forum before, so please see my earlier posts regards that.

Anyone who feels that they have been mis sold work or informed a job needs doing, and feels that it doesn't/did not, I would advise they contact there local Trading Standards Department, and allow them to take any action deemed necessary.

Also, in light of the Watchdog program, you can always write to Head Office and raise your concerns regards the standards you received.

On a final note, my advice to anyone considering using Kwik-Fit is to avoid them as a whole, there service is a complete waste of time and money

I got stung 20 years ago as a clueless new driver who was 180 miles from home in his first car.

I aint been back, never will and will never have a good word to say about them.

I sincerely hope this latest exposure ruins them and they go under. Many honest firms have gone to the dogs in the last few years, this credit crunch should do us all at least one big favour!! It owes us that much....

I've never been into quarkflap, but I remember the day they came out to see "us".

The dork that was trying to free an exhaust bolt with the oxy/accetylene torch burnt a hole in the petrol tank:eek::eek:

Blew himself and half the workshop through a 12x8ft plate glass window and into the centre of the high street. He survived, and is probably the manager by now:rotfl:
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

I wonder whether or not Watchdog does any good at all. There are several notable villains over the years, and they just carry on, very often under the same name, committing the same "crimes".
KwikFit and DriveAssist are two of the biggest frauds who come to mind.

All "Watchdog" can do is highlight problems, its up to trading standards, or the Police to take action........Just what do you expect the BBC to do if their still trading?

Indeed, the problems is it's VERY easy to convince stupid people that your doing them a favour, simply by spouting big technical words. They then go off and recommend to others and this is the ONLY way these dodgy businesses survive.

I need 3 new tyre's on my car and the first thing from my parents mouth was "get off to ****-fit"...... I don't know if it's purely the advertising or if it's because they used to be "ok"?
