Why isn't the student counsellor supporting your application?0

I never saw them in person. My contact was through email and telephone calls.0

Concluding that even though I had only just seen a medical proffessional my claims to illness were not of false pretencers in order to cover up my reasons for failing exams.
But the GP, and therefore the university, has only your word for it that you were suffering from depression earlier. This is the point that you don't seem to understand.
Universities need to have more proof than the student's word, even if that word is then presented to them through the means of a GP's report!0 -

You never actually saw a counsellor??
I think you may as well accept you are not going to be repeating the year.
Why not take a year to sort yourself out health wise and get some work experience, and apply fresh next year?0 -
Because I dont need a year. Depression medication is recomended for a course of 3-6 months. Given that fact I am already a hell of a lot better than I was. Exactly you have just pointed out my view.
I have 120 credits from my first year. These are transferable to another course or university, to continue from 2nd year. I was not able to transfer whilst making my appeal to re-take 2nd year at that uni. Now it is to late as applications are full, two or three weeks ago they were not. These universities could not hold a place whislt i waited my current uni's decison.
After all that has happened It looks like I will have to wait a year untill I can continue my studies...from 2nd year again. Medically there is no reason why I cannot start from october this year, my GP on my last visit stated this as she feels I have progressed greately.
If I believe I am ready to study again and so does my GP there is no reason why I should not. But becuase of they way my uni has handled my appeal and the length of time it has taken to make these appeals and here back from them surrounding thier decision, it is to late for me to study academic year 2010/2011. This is considerably more frustrating considering I have accomodationn to pay for, for the year. With the inclusion of my student loans being cancelled. Even study at a college or on a foundation course is to late at this point....which would be two steps backwards for me to begin with.
I am not the only student at my uni has been treated poorely as my flat mate has been through the same process ordeal.0 -

You and your flat mate failed and have been chucked off the course?? And you've both appealed in the same way and had it refused?
Were they depressed too??0 -
He was resiting his 1st year again.
another falt mate was also resiting his 1st year.
I am not allowed to re-sit, but they are?????
the guy i mentioned failed a module again this year and told he can no longer continue. He appealed with no circumstances that effected his performace but appealed through the same methods as me with the r4r and academic appeal. Like me he was rejected......( I am not surprised by this decision) (( I clearly have more of a reason to be allowed a re-take year as the uni clearly offers them and for no reason at all.))((i did have a reason)).
He has less options than me, but I seem to have been catagorised with these kind of students the ones that have failed a year already and re-taken..... i should be allowed the same rights as them.0 -

Clearly their circumstances for failing were different so I don't think everyone should have the same rights really. It's definitely fair enough not letting them take a third attempt at this. People on my course failed their first year and were allowed one chance to resit, if they'd failed again that would have been it. However, these people didn't fail due to medical or health reasons, so it's an entirely different situation.Saved: £1566.53/ £20000 -

Considering you only went to see your GP 6/7 weeks ago, your improvement must have been amazingly rapid. Perhaps you could tell us what anti depressants s/he's put you on that have lifted you out of such severe depression in such a short amount of time? I'm sure the rest of us depressives will be thrilled to know there's something so effective now on the market!;)0
