    Hi all.

You'll probably find this difficult to believe but I've won £150 on this so far. Admittedly I've entered 33 codes but this is still a pretty good success rate. There's still a few weeks of this promotion to go so I'll pass on my methods which seem to be working pretty well so far. It's always nice when us little people get one over on the big boys.

    1) Keep a look out for Walkers crisps in the discount shops such as Home Bargains, Poundstretcher etc. I managed to lay my hands on 20 bags at 10 pence each in early October (although they haven't been seen since in my local stores).

2 ) Bookmark the "UK Forecast" on the BBC weather website and keep checking it to see if rain is likely in the next 5 days.

    3) Wait until the latest moment possible before actually selecting a square on the Walkers map. This is because the BBC forecast becomes a lot more accurate the closer it gets to the actual day. Walkers rather generously allow you to enter their competition right up to 24 hours before any given day if you take advantage of their 8am cut off point.

    4) If you're confident that rain is a certainty on a particular day you should enter TWICE for the same day in the same region. Walkers decided that we may only enter one code per day so the best way around this is to enter one code before midnight and another just after midnight (or before 8am if you had to get to bed).

    5) If you're selecting a grid square in the countryside, make sure it's one with a village within it. This is just a theory but it's fair to say that populated areas are more likely to house a local weather nerd who will monitor rainfall as if his life depends on it. (Somebody else touched on this earlier in the thread and I'm inclined to agree as it's worked for me many times).

    6) Walkers aren't concerned with ip addresses so you should use multiple email addresses to log in because this allows you to make the most of entering the competition on days where you can see it's definitely going to rain. I personally only used two email addresses and registered one to my mum's address just in case it aroused suspicion. On two occasions I've won four times on the same morning by using this technique.

    7) Use your winnings to pay for the 12 month gym subscription you'll need after your insane crisp bonanza.

I hope this helps. It works for me.

    Good luck

    Regarding point No5

Walkers get their information on a daily basis from the Met Office. The Met Office use the UK Weather Radar Network to measure how much rain is falling at a given time. This records the rainfall over the Walkers map of the UK and ROI every five minutes within each 3-hour time slot available.

Therefore it shouldn't really make any difference if you choose a 4km2 grid-spot in a city or in the middle of the country.

Am I the only one who always has major problems with Walkers comps. I tried to enter today but first said my email was invalid so I assumed I had to register again although I've entered all previous comps with these details. Then it said I was already registered but my password was wrong, which it wasn't. I tried to request a password but it said my email wasn't recognised. Also when I click the link on the 1st page of this post it takes me to a strange website (kilrush mobi) which has no signs of how to enter the comp. The same thing happened with the £10,000 comp twice & I got a Trojan virus from the site. Walkers have been useless in the past to resolve my problems so I think I'll give up on this one too.

I managed to log on yesterday but today every time I log in today it then asks me to log in again and again and won't let me play. I had one email to say I had won £10 but haven't seen it yet. When I follow the link from the email telling me this to log in to my account it takes me to their list of promotions even though last time I did this it took me to my account details. So I go round and round in circles.

They seem to have serious problems with their website and I have found this before as well, the links quite often don't seem to work or direct you to the wrong place. This seems odd, I am often setting up links at work and they don't usually direct you to a different site of their own volition, they might not work if the link becomes broken.
  • 11TH IS UP however the site has crashed or has a glitch probably due to too many people using it. Could a few of you please get off it till i've picked my square;-))
