  • This thread has got boring
  • As much as I agree that 11 years old is maybe a bit young for an ipod I understand that is my personal opinion and I also very much agree it is upto each individual parent to decide.

Please don't let this go! I cannot believe that their is someone out their who would do such a thing! This woman should be found and dealt with to ensure she must deal with the consequences of her actions!!!

Unfortunetly I don't think you'll ever see the ipod again but if it was me I wouldn't be happy until that woman was found!!

(would also be raging with my son for loosing it, which I am sure will have been the case here!;))

Please ignore all the negative things in this thread and continue to follow the good advice that you initially asked for in the first place.

Good Luck, keep us up to date.:)
  • Yes, OP has been asked that, several times, but has chosen not to answer.

Well It must be JJBs fault then. I just cant see it being any other way..

what a con that they wont replace her Ipod.

    Don't be silly - it's not a con.

I don't think JJB SHOULD replace this ipod.

It was carelessness by an 11 year old that resulted in it being left in the first place.
JJB should review their 'lost/found property' policy but they shouldn't have to replace this item.

The person at fault here is the person who broke the law by claiming an item that didn't belong to her.

There's been lots written by people who quote various 'laws' and lots by people who refute those 'laws'.
I have no idea who is right or wrong LEGALLY.
If it's within the law (i.e. not breaking DPA) then I think JJB should provide a copy of the cctv tape.
I think the police should view that tape and make efforts to find this woman - if they can do this by gaining access to her personal details from her credit card details, they should do that.

I'm glad you're starting to find this thread boring, Freddie.
I'm sure you'll soon find another thread that you can make silly, inane, irrelevant comments on.

No it doesn't necessarily indicate that you were taking the mick.

Maybe if you didn't leave such a load of white space before your 'wink' it might help posters to determine your meaning.

Is THAT horse high enough for you?

    Gag?

    PMSL - not.

I think the OP has enough on her plate with people telling her she's lying, saying her grandson shouldn't have been given an expensive item of technology, hounding her for answers to questions - without your misguided attempt at humour or irony.

Tel the plod that you've got a theft to report, evidence to prove the theft, video of the thief and evidence to link the video to an identity via a credit card transaction.

1 crime, 1 crime that should be readily solveable. Open and shut case. They should take that on as it would boost their figures.

Conversely if it has been reported as a loss followed by theft without all the relevant details, the plod might see it as another unsolveable on their stats.

100% agree with everything you say - except I don't have faith the plod will do anything (which is the real and only scandal in this thread). A few years back my car was broken into and a stero and credit car nicked. I got one of those calls from my credit card provider checking I was making a transaction at a shop down the road - I wasn't - so this alerted me to the fact the car was broken into. Reported the theft told the police where the theif was. Nothing. A day later - enraged at their inaction I went to the shop myself and got the store manager to give me the CCTV photo of the chap trying to use my card. I took it myself to the police station. "Sorry, we don't prioritise credit card fraud - the banks deal with it". I pointed out that it wasn't just credit card fraud it was theft from a vehicle with criminal damage to obtain the card on top of the the fraud. Again - they didn't even want to take the CCTV picture from me. Too busy. They said just because he had the credit card wasn't proof he nicked it - it could have bought it off the thief. I said, even if that was theoretically possible in the half hour between the theft and the attempted transaction the fraudster would sill hold vital evidence. The weary sigh and 'we know our jobs leave us alone' attitude from the copper was staggering. The mind still boggles.

It's important not to accept this laziness from the police. Demand this theft is properly reported as a crime and if they do nowt about it at least their failure will be reflected in more accurate crime figures.

A few years ago i was hounded by the next door being used almost openly as a drugs shop. Early one morning a very plush and expensive 4x4 was outside the run down property. I noted the reg. and on the monday went to the local pt cop shop.. The first answer i got was go to the main Police Station in town. I stood my ground and pointed to the police car outside which had written on it which I read out slowly as if i was speaking to a child "Protect, Help and Reassure" He eventually got his notebook out and mumbled "Do you know how much paperwork Im going to have to do now ?"
