That would normally happen during a re-branding process.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
How exciting. Then in 10 years time we can all look back and say "awwww, those were the days, when a bank was a bank and treated you well before the recession giving us all that cheap credit, and now they won't give us any" and then we can post pictures of the current 2012 and black horse debit cards and everyone will be like "woah!! you've kept that for so long!?, aw man, that's so good, I used to have one of those, and look and it now"
Then we'll have the Daily Mail readers' comments "back in the days before the Government got us all into debt and I had a £'x'thousand share of that bank, and all I got out of it was this debit card with a new name on, New Labour you scum!"
I can't wait.0 -
I used to have a savings account with TSB when I was a kid. And then a TSB cash card account when I got a little older just before they re-branded as Lloyds TSB.
I still have the old TSB passbook although I don't bank with Lloyds TSB anymore.
Ah the days lol0 -
I wonder how much they've paid consultants to decide upon their new name.0

About time they dropped the TSB part, I mean when referring to them it's usually always just Lloyds in any case. Always seemend pointless to me adopting the TSB part when the merger occurred all those years ago as nothing was adopted in to LLoyds day to day banking form the TSB arm.
I have come across quite a number of people who still, even now, refer to Lloyds TSB as 'the TSB'.
I think it is a brand name that people still recognise and probably forms an important part of their name. I doubt they'd drop it if it weren't for the European Commission.
Incidentally, stclair's link gives interesting info on exactly what Lloyds TSB will have to ditch:This business will consist of:
• the TSB brand
• the branches and branch based customers of Lloyds TSB Scotland and a related banking licence
• the branches, savings accounts and branch based mortgages of Cheltenham & Gloucester
• Additional Lloyds TSB branches in England and Wales, with branch based customers
• Intelligent Finance brand and its customers and accounts
which will have at least 600 branches, a 4.6% share of the personal current accounts market and around 19% of the Group's mortgage assets.
Seems to be quite a substantial size that they'll have to ditch.0 -
How will they decide which Lloyds TSB branches in England will be sold?0
-
Probably those with only a 77-xx-xx sort code.
I think they will copy what Barclays did with the Woolwich next...
Re-brand /close Halifax branches as Lloyds but keep it as a Mortgage brand. How will they decide which Lloyds TSB branches in England with be sold? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Lloyds initially wanted to combine Bank of Scotland with Lloyds TSB Scotland. They then agreed to sell Lloyds TSB Scotland, as part of their EU State aid agreement, including branches & its separate banking license.
Perhaps Airdrie Savings Bank - the only bank not to become part of TSB Scotland in the 80s - will want to reunite and buy Lloyds TSB Scotland? No, I thought this was the plan, but now it says Lloyds TSB Scotland will be sold, and presumably re-branded back to TSB Scotland! This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
