    I've been Money Tipped!
Well this is day one for me. Will be drawing out £28 to last the week as £11.50 will be taken out of the account to cover the cost of the organic fruit and veg box and eggs (trying to get healthy as well).

We are out for dinner with friends over the next 3 days so just luches and breakfasts to worry about until Monday. I do want to be generous and take a contribution though:think: have wine in the wine rack so a bottle of wine and maybe some hm cookies would be acceptable and would be from stocks in already.

Breakfasts will be hm muesli using up the organic oats and dried fruits in the larder or toast (using up the remains of the experiments from the new bm and the odd pots of half used jam/marmalade that are hogging the fridge space).

Lunches will be hm soup using up the contents of the veg box and hm bread or Jacket potatoes (will have to buy a bag of large spuds ) and start to use up the tins of baked beans and tuna (bogofs:rolleyes: ) that keep falling on my head whenever I open the larder!

Remaining evening meals will be all about using up what is lurking at the bottom of the freezer! Must be brave and go take a look, if you don't see me around for a while send out a search party please!:o

So this weeks spend should be kept to the barest minimum (I hope, fingers crossed) and I am going to use vouchers.

Whatever I save this month and next will be put towards Christmas costs so I have a good incentive.

    Good luck everyone!

    Jan grocery challenge £35.77/£120
  • I might as well join. I've always set a budget of £160 for two people for everything, food, and toiletries and cleaning products. This month we are up £205, but that did include a few "unessentials" as I call them, i.e. a bottle of Malibu and flowers, oh and some beer!

Gona try again for £160 even though we now had a kitten to pay for and all.

I usually do a big shop at the start of the month and then hopefully the freezer gradually gets empty by the end of the month. Still have a few things left which will flow over into October.

    Mortgages (End 2017) - £180,235.03
    (End 2021) - £131,215.25 DID IT!!!
    (End 2022) - Target £116,213.81
  • Hi,

Can I join in please? It's probably the only way I am going to stick to any sort of budget (hopefully)!!!

I am gonna try batch cooking, bogofs, and my friend has recommended I shop at Lidls. I am going to try and be more organised and menu plan instead of diving into our local co-op on the way back from picking sons up from school.

I have set myself a target of £250 (just under£60) per week and pay cash only (if I use a card, it doesn't seem like real money).

Don't know if I am a bit too optimistic with my budget but I do have rhubarb, courgettes and herbs in the allotment (could be interesting recipes).

Anyway, I have written it down now from today until payday 28th Oct, so there's no going back..................... Off to make a rhubarb crumble !

    Good luck everyone !!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Forgot to say........ there's five of us..... me, hubsy and 3 boys aged 11, 9, and 7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • I'm in!

I started last month's challenge but lost track half way through (oops) ... tend to get stuff in bits and pieces as getting to a supermarket is a pain without a car, unfortunatly makes keeping track of money a bit harder!

Have started off in style with a trip to asda - managed to buy a 'takeaway' for tonight and a few bits for lunches and not much else as realised there were no taxis available and a long walk home! Still, pizza from asda is cheaper than takeaway, right? ;)

Here we go again. I managed to stick to £75 per week for 3 adults and 2 kids for all meals, toilletries and cleaning stuff and I've still got loads in the freezer, I think someone may have had "a slight moment" as just about everything in the freezer department in the co op had reduced to half price stickers on.So be brave and go for..... £65 per week...gasp!

  • Count me in Im new to the board. Grocery bill is usually £300 (gulp) Dog Cat Fish 9 month baby 13 yr old and me and other half....

Got some washable nappies for my birthday (9th Oct- well when I say for MY birthday I got the cash and that what I bought ) so that should cut a great deal off my bill

edited to say My month will start on the 1st - self employed

  • I'm in. Last month was good, came in under budget (£140, £20 under). We've done this weeks shop, first of the month. Not a bad effort again. As it is a long month, my £160 needs to go a bit further so we'll see how we get on...

The £160 covers all food, cleaning products and toiletries for 2 adults and 2 toddlers. I use cloth nappies and wipes so that isn't a factor in my budget.
  • Hi,
I'm in again. Last month was 14 quid over budget - not too bad I guess.
This month I am going try to try to stick to 100 pounds on food and dog food and 20 on toiletries and cleaning stuff.
I'm starting from tomorrow and will end on Sat 28th October (4 weeks).
This is just for me and OH and a greedy little dog.
