Last month was my first attempt and I guessed/ hoped for a budget of £200.
I did so well the first three month that I treated myself to a few goodies in week 4... and went over budget  I spent £263.36
So, I'll try harder this month: £200 it will be.......He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.

Hmmmm. Last month went swimmingly until the last few days when DH went a bit berserk in Sainsburys
Anyway, the result is that we're trying for the same amount (£250) this month, and have a head start due to the mass buy! Cheating a bit, I think, but who cares.... lol0 -
Hi everone.
I'm quite new to the site so there are a lot of things i've seen on various posts that mean little to me but obviously something to some of you - like the BB*tches and things like that.
I like the idea of the £100 grocery challenge though! Any idea's where to shop / What to buy?:j OFFICIAL NO.1 NELLY FAN - FACTno offence Vic purely on a Hoff basis:j0 -
Hi everyone, I'm new to this but have been lurking for a wee while now. I get paid tomorrow so plan to join in by keeping all my receipts for the month - think I spend around £250 (two adults and two kids - one teenager and one 11 year old who can eat for Scotland). Like the sound of menu planning so away to find some threads for that:D0

ahhhhh just wrote out a really long reply to this thread and lost it
any way Im in and have updated my siggy
£125 for the month of October for 1 adult, 1 12yo DD, 1 rabbit and 1 pup. I am using up stuff in my freezer and store cupboard as well as cooking HM.
Have made out a planner for the next 10 days to include for dinners
Spag Bog with pasta
Chilli Con Carni with rice
Mince with veg and yorkie puddies
HM lasagne with veg
Pizza beans and chips ( out of freezer when I cant be bothered )
5 bean stew with dumplings and veg
Pasta with HM tomatoe sauce, parmesan and HM garlicky bread
Quorn pieces in curry with rice
Veggie burgers in buns with chips ( out of freezer )
Cod in sauce + veg
Puds to include angel delight, Jelly, HM malt loaf, HM cake with fruit in it
lunces will be HM soups or sandwiches made with HM bread ,Tuna ( got loads of tuna in??? ) and home grown tomatoes. DD has lunch at school.
Breakfasts are ricicles for DD and porridge and honey for me
Snacks - bananas, mandarins, crisps
Drinks - water of course and tea for me and juice for my DD
we are not veggies but we only eat Quorn mince instead of beef mince and Quorn pieces instead of chicken in curry so that tends to bring down the costs as there is no meat to pay out for but I do have a 12 yo DD who would quite happily eat me out of house and homeoh and I also try to buy Organic where possible
anyway all the best everybody with your monthly challenge:T:cool: Official DFW Nerd Club Member #37 Debt free Feb 07 :cool:0 -
Well
I've just done a quick count up - and so far this month (since friday that is) - we've spent £152.00 on groceries.
Not good.
We did do a huge costco run on saturday (some of which will last us for months). I'm hoping this will be reflected in the coming weeks. Oh dear."You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me." - C.S. Lewis0 -

Was doing so well during my first week of the month until we heard my 16 yr old son was starting his first job yesterday. Went mad buying lunch box treats and blown this weeks budget.
THEN I hit the chocolate box intended for end of year just to make matters worse... was sooo nervous for him I guzzled loads down.
Still, he loves the job and I tried to make a recovery by making a massive HM pizza (love my breadmaker) which I've sliced up to pop in OH and DSs lunch boxes.
Now I'm away to try and find a thread about packed lunches. (which I should have done in the first place!MAY GROCERY CHALLENGE £0/ £250

OK, I've never done one of these, but I'm going to start. I estimate £150 from today til end of month. Just brought all the meat for the week - came to £12 plus some for next week too hopefully. There's 2 adults and one ravenous 6 year old in the house. Aswell as a heck of alot of pets - but won't bore with you all their details. Wish me luck!!"Failure is always an option"
Sealed pot challenge #107 - still going strong0 -
Can I just say how well a lot of you seem to do, and what commitment it must take to shop for so little especially when you have a family.
I am now managing a monthly budget of £160 for 2 adults and my 13month DD but things are really really tight now and we are soon going to be struggling to pay the bills. I am finding it hard to find work at the moment due to DD, cost of childcare etc so just have OH wage. If anyone can give me any advice on how to cut this down even further I would really appreciate it as I am begining to loose sleep over it now.
My budget includes all toiletries and household items and I cook everything from scratch, local supermarkets are Tesco, Sainsbury's and Asda (nearest Lidl is 40mins away!)
Many thanks0
