  • Morning.

My Grocery challenge ends today as it is payday tomorrow.
My sig says it is well within my budget but this is because oh went on a shopping jaunt (to do me a favour!!) and has filled up the store cupboard and stocked the freezer with meat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also got some walnuts, melon, fresh pineapple, nice cheeses and so budget now comes in at nearer £450!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My newly revised and "very versatile" plan is that this month's grocery challenge will only be around £200 because we are starting with a lot of the essentials.
I suppose if it wasn't him that had overspent, it would have been me!!!!!!!

Well done everyone else for your successes... it really does make you think about your spending doesn't it????
  • I am totally amazed! The figures in my signature are still correct and I still haven't been in a shop since the early days of the month. I am working now so take sarnies and fruit with me and spend 60p per day on tea. The chest freezer level has dropped about 5" and the other one is still full! the pantry is still heaving as well. However I need to get some more milk in (99p 4 litres) and perhaps some different pasta but other than that still eating well. I drew out £100 "pocket money" at the beginning of the month and still have £80 left. It should be interesting when I have enough freezer space to bulk cook once again (but will I have time to do it:confused:?) Watch out for menu planning questions......

Mr Proctalgia you have a very low budget at £25 for the month - make sure you are eating healthily - this challenge has a habit of getting us addicted to saving but it also means you could end up eating unhealthily to save more money... I learnt my lesson this month and will be allowing £10 instead of £120 for next month - more vegetables and fruit and less stodgy carb stuff...

i didn't do very well last month, so hubby and i ahev come up with a new idea. i have an empty credit card with a limit for 200 pounds. and 200 pounds is my shopping budget. so this way i have to stay under. and then at end of month i will clear the card . i figured i would be so embarassed if the card got refused at the shop, so this will make me keep a list of how much i have spent. in theorey it sounds fab so i hope it works out as good. roll on 1st of month.

but i do have a freezer full ) both of them ) plus loads in cupbaord and pantry. and it wouldn't be hard to find enough meals for a month so maybe i might just see how long i can stay out or supermarket for. apart from fresh milk , bread and fruit.
  • Hi im 95p over this month i couldnt resist the reduced meat in tesco earlier in the week so ive got some meat in the freezer and enough bread to last a fortnight roll on the first the start of novembers challange!

Well, I've done better than last month (was overbudget by the halfway point), but have still gone over :(

Was on track until the start of this week, but then did a couple of bulk shops to take advantage of some coupons and deals, which has resulted in the figures in my sig.

I actually have less money next month, and a couple more days to cover with it, so it could be interesting - especially as other than several pounds of apples, there's only about two meals in the freezer and enough bread to get us to the end of this month. We do have plenty of Baked Beans though, lol.

    Methinks it could get interesting

    :)

Well I think we've done it :rotfl:

Didn't realise it was a 5 week month until I read it in the earlier posts, note to self take more notice of dates :rotfl: However as below we've done it anyway. Next month is also a 5 week one so I will keep the budget to £375.

Last shop of the month Tescos £36.22

Budgeted £375 Total spend £315.26 Celebratory family take away £18.86
