Morning all
Just catching up with the fred whilst nursing a coffee .
Triker - how horrendous, hope you get the car sorted soon. I went to visit my mother yesterday afternoon, and some drunken louts had smashed her wing mirror off, and looking like £150 to replace, which as a pensioner ... didn't fill her with happiness
Rach - stay put vibes firmly sent ....
Dontknowanymore - welcome
Decided to do today a little in reverse, so DH is sitting down with DD doing guitar practice now ... as opposed to last thing on the day, which normally results in tears and frustration .... so far, so goodHomework has also been done :j.
I also came down this morning to DH attempting to put a mealplan together for the week :T. He and I had a long conversation last night about planning and the fact I don't want to be the only one to do it ....
Today, I'm planning on doing some baking, so that DD has a filling snack (flapjack / muffin) when she comes home from school, as she's been starvingTomorrow, I am "hosting" our knit 'n' knatter, so I need the place to look presentable, which needs to be done today, as working tomorrow. Also, I need to bake a cake, or something, for "nibbles". Any easy thoughts with everyday ingredients which save me going to the shops, as I really can't be bothered to go! Nothing over the top though!!
So "To Do" list for today:
Washing x several
Dry x several .. either TD or line, weather dependant
Laundry, fold and put away non ironing, do HHI ironing
Baking - quiche, date and walnut loaf, flapjacks, blueberry muffins, biscuits
Hoover stairs (well, those from the front door downwards... )
Clean dining room windows
Post up mealplan
Go for a run
Right, time to get dressed at least and air the bedroom ....

Do they not realise you are in pain or not understand that the jobs need doing?.
I am with Dusty on the 'no complaining about what can't be fixed' so I hadn't said anything about hurting. DH has now realised but with his back it is the lame leading the blind for what he can to do to help - neither of us can bend. I ended up having a shout at everyone on Friday night since when one DW (of the 5 loads) has been emptied by SS2, DH has made me two cups of tea, and 7yo DS1 has brushed the patio for me so not achieved much. I need to think about strategy as washing up liquid in their dnner doesn't seem to be working:rotfl:

Ok thank you, well thats already sorted, the letters and paperwork that is currently cluttering up my side board!!:D
I folded the towels from the TD, then moved the uniforms from the WM to the TD which is about my limit for effort today. My local M&S do some really good reductions (yellow stickered) .
I didn't even know they reduced stuff! Pre maternity leave, back in the heady days of disposable income and no time, I lived off M&S ready meals. I only learnt to cook properly when I was off and the income dropped so dramatically but so did the food bills because I had time to shop around.

hex - loads of stuff gets reduced to £1 or £1.50 at ours, I've filled the freezer before but need to get there about 6pm or sunday afternoons!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0

Well I've found a recipe for lemon posset to use up my double cream - just need to buy an unwaxed lemon to make them, as I've got a plastic lemon, but plastic zest just wouldn't be the same.:rotfl:Think we'll have it with some ginger nut biscuits as I have some of those in, rather than making the recommended shortbread.
I need to get some potatoes anyway, as I used the last of them up last night, and I'm sure we'll be needing some this week.
Have had cuddles with Ebony - he came upstairs of his own accord for the first time in over a year, which was nice (2 years ago we took him to the vet, and captured him from our bedroom and he's always been suspicious of coming up since). Turns out, Moon hadn't fed him this morning, and he was coming to show me his empty bowl.
Well I'm ashamed to say that I'm still not dressed, so going to go and sort that out now. Then, I'm going to have a cup of tea and empty the DW, and put a load of washing on before I go to get the fruit and veg.
Welcome to the new flyladies.

Sounds like your DH is being sensible.
It isn't my DH who is the problem, it is the four boys, who range from 18 to 6 who just don't do enough which we need to address. I very much mind needing to ask for help which is part of the problem.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
Morning all,
Thanks for all the hugs and kind words about my Uncle. I haven't had chance to catch up properly with the thread so i hope everyone is ok.
I went to collect a lovely little sideboardy thingy from the charity shop yesterday and they were chucking out a load of stuff and said we could have what we wanted. We had to do 2 trips but ended up with the sideboard, a coffee table and a computer chair for me and a cabinet for OH. I only had to pay for the sideboard.:money: The chair has some chewing gum on the seat so that needs to be cleaned and the furniture all needs painting. My dining room is full again so i spent most of yesterday afternoon painting the bathroom stuff. We've got a party to go to this afternoon so i'll be painting until we go.
I've done my dailes this morning but that's about it. AF turned up today so i don't feel like doing anything.:cool:0 -

MIL taught DH this was the way to go, despite her not working outside the home, having a cleaner, a baby sitter and a gardener:eek:
Imagine the re-training needed:rotfl:
Have done the dining room. Next stop get DH to sweep up the Kamikaze flies from the porch...Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
Zed42 I've got a nice recipe for Jamaican Ginger Cake if you want to make that for your coffee morning. It's really easy to make, and has some ordinary ingredients in it that you may have around the house already. It's even better after a couple of days, as it gets stickier, so you can make it in advance.
Jamaican Ginger Cake
100g or 3 1/2oz butter, cut into cubes, plus extra for greasing
100g or 3 1/2oz dark soft brown sugar
3tbsp golden syrup
150ml or 5 floz milk
1 large egg
150g or 5 oz plain flour
2tsp ground ginger
2tsp ground cinnamon
1tsp bicarbonate of soda
75g or 3 oz raisins or sultanas- Preheat the oven to 150C/ 300F/ Gas Mark 2. Grease a 20cm / 8inch ring tin or a 900g/2lb loaf tin with butter.
- put the butter, sugar and golden syrup into a pan and heat gently, stirring until melted. Add the milk, pour into a jug and leave to cool for a couple of minutes, then add the egg.
- Sift the flour, ginger, cinnamon and bicarbonate of soda into a large bowl. Pour in the wet ingredients and gently mix together. Mix in the raisins.
- Pour the cake mixture into the tin and bake for 1 hour or until a skewer inserted into the middle of the cake comes out clean. Turn onto a wire rack and leave to cool.

Well the wash is on, the DW has been unloaded and reloaded, and my cup of tea has been consumed. I'm off to the shops to get the lemon and potatoes, so see you all later.
