I don't think it is to be honest. I seem to remember I paid extra in my home insurance for loss / theft outside the home, but it's limited to within Ireland / UK and *I think* mainland Europe, but not Rest of World.

So will I have to get special camera insurance would you say?

yes, but it would probably be cheaper to extend the coverage of you home insurance - you can often add items or extend coverage with no increase in premium.

  • Its not as bad as trying to get on deal or no deal is it?

    get insurance.

  • Travel Insurance is a must but if you're willing to take the risk then don't come on here asking for advise if you had a bad experience just be get "i told you so" !

Give yourself a good few hours to hunt down a good price and cover suitable for you/your trip. It's a small price & time to pay to be protected.

We've all heard horror stories & don't want that to be us one day!

I'll see if they'll do that, thanks for the idea.

By the time you've paid excesses, waited for a claim to be processed, watch them weasel out of paying, found out that you're not covered when, as far as you can see, the policy states that you are.....

    ..it's really not worth it.

Not our experience, £2000 paid by insurance no problem for £60 policy,
I think you are a bit of an idiot, which bit - I won't say.

The £64 I got back from mine after abandonning my trip to canada (volcano erruption) paid for my Warner Brothers tickets for my recent US holiday. Wish it had covered transfers though :( Still definitly worth the effort.

What, they even paid for your partner, even though he himself wasn't injured? What company was that?

That's standard, you and your travel companion are covered.

You are beig very short sighted if you believe that distruption to travel arrangements are the most important thing travel insurance covers. I take it you've had a bad experience to be so cynical?

I have an Aunt that broke her leg a few years ago just before she was due to go on holiday. They contacted their travel insurance provider (family policy i'm assuming) and got the money they paid for flights back for her, her husband, 3 children, Mother and Father.
