Insureandgo have a policy (black) on which the excess for normal activity appears to be nil.

My travel insurance covers me for a hole-in-one on a golf course.

You can cover yourself against anything if you are prepared to pay for it. Conversely don't expect a cheap policy to cover you particularly well.

  • Guys does anybody know, what about my camera? I've a DSLR and it's new, just bought it for £700. I can't see that being covered as standard so do I need to take out seperate cover for that would you say?

If you click on the link I gave you, roll mouse over the fourth item down ( baggage ) , You will get your answer.
people are giving you good advice but you seem intent on picking holes in it, why?

Hi Yoghurt, I totally agree with you that travel insurance policies will do their utmost to get out of the smaller claims, and as you've seen some of the excesses are a little on the high side. However, they only really come into their own when personal injury happens, where fees abroad can be horrific.

I only buy them for this, and am happy to take my chances with items etc being covered.

that should be covered by your home insurance - same for jewelry, laptops etc (but of course check your home insurance policy, and keep copies of your receipts for new items)

I don't think it is to be honest. I seem to remember I paid extra in my home insurance for loss / theft outside the home, but it's limited to within Ireland / UK and *I think* mainland Europe, but not Rest of World.

So will I have to get special camera insurance would you say?

The policy you posted indicates that cameras (photographic equipment) falls within the category of 'valuables'. The valuables limit on that policy is €300 (as is the single article limit. You could no doubt find a policy with a higher valuables limit and a higher single article limit...or discuss your needs with the insurer to see if a higher limit can be arranged...if it isn't covered on your home insurance as has already been suggested.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
