Try adding just one extension/device at a time for now and it might aid in finding the source of problem.
It seems prob is at your end from your last post.

Put socket back together & put internet back in, working all evening. So will try phone next, then sky boxes. When I find the culprit what next???
    I will post back.

They are not self installed, I had them all hard wired by a telephone engineer about 4 years ago when we moved in.
But is it proper telephone cable or is it burglar alarm cable he used? I know you set out to get it done properly, but it might be worth a check. The cables do look similar.

If the cable has wires which are pairs of a colour with white and white with the colour and the cores are solid conductor, then it is phone cable [or data cable]. If the wires are different single colours and the cores are stranded conductor then it is burglar alarm cable.

Had it plugged into the "test" socket all day, nothing except router plugged in, no phone no sky.
Hasn't gone down & normally (or rather recently) it would have.
I'm using the old filter (as its the only one I have until I buy some).

    So what does that mean?
It means that your instability is probably caused by noise pickup on your internal wiring. I've already told you the best way to fix that and provided a link to the best filtered faceplate on the market. It costs around £10 + post from memory.

Neat job too, no need for filters:D

    One more question, sorry.

They had those faceplates in B&Q yesterday but they were a whole flat faceplate (like any other electric face plate) But the phone master socket is a bit different isn't it? Should I be looking for something NOT flat but shaped to go over the split shape of a BT master socket?

The B&Q ones will be replacements for all of your secondary sockets. The one kwikbreaks gave the link for is for a BT NTE5 master socket. And I would choose any product from ADSLnation over the equivalent from B&Q every time

I don't know what you saw in B&Q but the correct type is the one I linked to which fits to the NTE5 master socket and filters all the extensions.

As a temporary measure you could disconnect the ringwires from the faceplate (terminal #3) and ensure that everything plugged in is filtered. It won't be the very best option as the extension wiring itself can still pick up some electrical noise - especially so if if is routed near to any electrical motors etc. and doubly so if proper CW1308 spec wire wasn't used. It should be good enough to stop the continual resyncs though.

It's a good thought but it's the actual wiring itself which causes most of the problems rather than what you plug in (unless it isn't filtered which is then a double whammy).
