Interesting that Mooloo gave me some beetroot yesterday, which I love, and I need a recipe for roasted beetroot as doing Roast Chicken dinner tonight for when DD gets back from work. Any suggestions?
My favourite method of cooking beetroot - peel, cut into big chunks, put in a covered dish (I use my remoska but oven does just as well if it's on) with several cloves of garlic, cut in half but I don't peel. add black pepper, a glug of olive oil, thyme and a drizzle of honey. bake until soft (probably about 30 minutes) You will spend the day with very pink palms but it tastes great!0 -
Morning All,
I feel as if I have a cold coming on.Lots of Echinacea and Vit. C today for me. Its a lovely clear day outside. OH went to work at 6am and won't be home before 8 today, its the big clean up before the project is handed over tomorrow, I wish he could bring the cleaners home with him.
Plan for the day is to clean up this morning and put the dinner on, think it will be spag bol, and I want to make that tart I had planned on yesterday, I too had been thinking of making a huge batch of tomato sauce, but mine will be with tinned toms, my HG ones were a disaster - in fact not much of mine came off this year at all. I also need to do a bit of baking for the lunchboxes, might do chocolate croissants. DS1 has a friend coming after lunch for a couple of hours, and I've promised DS2 we will do some crafty things when the big ones are playing, he has a lovely Usborne things to make and do book which he loves, so something from there, I guess.
Have good days all, I'll be back later.

DS back from his dads this morning. Am making a cake for him coming back and BM on.
We are having cider pork casserole, cauli cheese, new pots today and apple crumble afterwards. Am very jealous of Bargainbirds rib of beef though
went shopping for OHs wedding suit yesterday. He thought he was going to be in and out of Meadowhell in 10 mins:rotfl:. it was a bit of an ordeal....not helped by the fact that he didnt have a clue what size he was in anything:eek: . He got a lovely black 3 piece suit in Next and even agreed to having a hot pink shirt to tie in with the hot pink gerbera buttonhole. Sounds awful but it looks lovely.....honest.
I also got to go in Paperchase:D and look at all the stationery:Tnot for long though as OH was moaning"its just pens and stuff". i told him most
people on here love it and he looked at me like we are all barmy:rotfl:
Re roast beetroot...HFW has a recipe for it..you cut it into thick wedges and add sprigs of rosemary, a head of garlic cloves squashed, skin left on, and a trickle of olive oil. cover with foil and roast for 40 mins gas 5. Remove foil and trickle over 2 tablespoons balsamic vin, stir and return to oven uncovered for another 30 to 40 mins.
well off to get myself moving
will check in later

Good morning everyone
What a lovely thread! Hope it's ok for me to join in when I can.
Been up a couple of hours and it looks like a great day! Put the first load of washing out to dry and now doing some towels and stuff that belong to the two puppies. Will hang that out as soon as it is finished. Isn't it great drying clothes outside :j
Just woke up OH with cuppa and we will be taking the pups to the woods as soon as he is fully awake. Will have some of the cob i made yesterday for breakfast before though! Got two FR chicken breasts defrosting for lunch, will add all kinds of veg we have and make yorkshires for the extra filling factor when we get back.
Need to clean the bathroom today, all other housework and ironing was done yesterday :j
Here's to a great Sunday for everyone0 -
Morning All
Have a load of washing in but not sure wheat to do with it yet. Will have to wait and see, the sun is shining but it feels like it's going to rain. I think I will leave the beds today as that would be too much wet stuff hanging about.
Have already made a fruit cake and done the ironing (there wasn't much). DD has gone up to her old school with her friend who is here - they are going to meet up with some other 'old' pupils so wont see them all day. I have put the chicken in the SC, not done that before so i'll see how that turns out. Going for a shower in a mo and then need to look at this tax return - it probably wont take long but it's the thought of it!!!
Have a good Sunday all, take care. XX0 -

Mornign everyone, its a gorgeous day here quite airy but lovely and sunny, have some accounts to do this morning and then will go walking, unfortunatley not as far as we had hoped, but will do at least three to four miles. Will take some containers with me to collect brambles and rosehips. Will pop the slowcooker on before we go and have beef olives, tatties, carrots and cabbage for tea. Will also have to do some baking this afternoon as its like old mother hubbard in the cake tins, and I am not buying any cakes/fancy biscuits for packed lunches. Think I will have another cup of coffee before i do anything though.....................
have a good day folks,Every days a School day!0 -

Morning all..............................((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))) if you need one.
It was a bright morning when we got up but it has now clouded over. We are due to go to a local garden that is open under the 'open doors' scheme which is on this weekend. I hope it stays fine, nothing worse than touring a garden in the pouring rain.
Its quite cool this morning, the fly paper in the kitchen is now a fly park!! OH has been counting the toll of stuck bodies. There is one fly in the sitting room which will be meeting its maker soon.
Nothing else planned for today, cold chicken and salad for supper, I will make the salad and leave it in the fridge so I just have to put it on the table when we get in if we are hungry.
ooohhhh the sun has just appeared again. OH has no plans to garden this morning, which means he will be under my feet, I think I am going to sit and knit.....................
Oh well thats this morning decided OH has just gone back to bed with a dizzy, knitting or reading it is maybe prep slald for tonight supper and a cup of coffee later, he should be up by lunchtime. Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0
