I have used the Tom Tom on a Terrafix, which is very similiar to the app for the iPhone, as long as you aren't worried about the size of the screen then you should be fine.

I personally wanted a larger screen so used to use one of the entry level wide screen ones.

I have had loads of different Sat Navs over the years, so have some of my minicab/courier,/blackcab drving mates and they all have tomtoms, after trying ones like navman, etc.

Only if you have the extra money to waste, it holds it's signal perfectly using the internal GPS receiver.
