    Why?

And waste my time listening to a load of excuses & lies!! No thanks!

Vote!! are you having a laugh??
I've never yet found a politician worthy of a vote - whatever party they stand for.

Lucky? Yes I am, I look after me and my own who in turn look after us. It's called familly, they are the ones that matter - no one else!

Oh and by the way, I also refuse to complete the Census documents that come round!

I don't agree that my name, that of my wife or my family, my beliefs, where I holiday, where I keep my money etc has anything to do with anybody apart from my wife & kids.
Too much info is shared with too many 3rd parties.
Take the HMRC, now working with Experian, with info obtained in the first place from Census records and the Electoral lists. And now we have DWP getting into bed with Experian acting as 'bounty hunters'!!

If you are happy for others to know your private business then that is your choice - mine is to refuse to have anything to do with it.

If you don't "exist" any where then how did you manage to get a mortgage? credit checks would need to be done before you got one surely?

how do you manage to get paid benefits etc?
I think you really do talk out of your backside and make it up as you go along,

This from someone relying on the state for his modest income. This from someone who has filled in form after form for ESA and JSA. Seems you didn't mind the state knowing everything then! Telling them your bank account details etc then was fine!

It would seem you do want the state in your life (to pay for your benefits) but not if they want anything back.

How is the house building going? (Is the fact you are on JSA and health problems getting in the way?).

Does your work still pay you to go on the jury? I Said I couldnt do it back in 2006, do you think they will ask me again, I would love to do it if my work still paid me for it

I didn't, my wife had to get it via her dad!!

I don't have a bank account nor do we have credit cards. My benefits are paid by weekly/fortnightly giros.

And no I am not talking out of my backside.
We deal in cash and dont believe in bank accounts. If we get a cheque it is generally cashed through one of my daughters' accounts.

I get my benefits by giros which are cashed at the Post Office.
And I claim what I am entitled to.
Bungalows are doing fine, I supervise the build, not build it myself.
And no I have no problems with that, I have time on my hand which I am using profitably.

Sorry, if this is the wrong place, there should be a general topic forum for questions like this.

I got a letter through today saying that i need to attend jury service in November - However it co-incides with my attendance and work commitment at a show in Germany where i will also be presenting.

The problem is i've already deferred once in July as I would have been out of the country again for the original request.

    Can i defer again?
I'd actually like to do it, but both appointments have been crazily unlucky timings with important times in my careeer.

The official line is that you can only defer once... but has anyone had any luck deferring twice??

    Thanks in advance

Back to the OP...have you tried ringing them up? I only had to defer once, so can't comment on deferring twice, but I rang them up to query something and they were really friendly and helpful on the phone. Not at all like the official tone of the paperwork they send out! Hope you can get it sorted.
  • i got to defer twice, the first time just by a letter from my employer. The second time they did not give the agreed 28 days notice so again employer wrote a letter. Even if you have said you are free, things can come up that definitely worth getting your employer to write - perhaps advising they can include travel info if required. I did end up going after the 3rd request and spent 4 days going back and forward only to not be picked. I always feel the system for jury should be better - my employer had to get temp worker in for full days even though I was not away for 4 full days - we just did not know

I have deferred twice, both for work reasons. I have also subsequently been on jury duty twice.

You can ask and see what they say.

And to the person that asked, no your company do not have to pay you for the days you are on jury duty.
  • You can ask, what have you got to lose?

Someone I work with is due to start Jury Service in October - it's her third lot of dates as she did defer twice before, but she was told not even bother trying to defer again this time as no way would a third application be approved. But yes, she did defer twice.

Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.
