Easiest way to avoid this palava is not to have your name on on the Electoral List!!

Never voted, never been asked to go on a Jury, in fact I don't exist according to Experian!! Yipeee!!! Big Brother eat your heart out!!

    Now this really infuriates me!!

Why would anyone if physically/mentally able try to avoid their duty as a citizen of this country and sit on a jury when requested?

Also why on earth would you chose not to be on the electoral role, and waste your democratic right to a vote?

Some people don't know how lucky they are to live where they do.
  • Suggest you write and request a 2nd deferral, explaining the situation and giving up to date availability for jury service for the next 12 months.

Your request may be refused, but you will have tried.

How silly to congratulate yourself for failure to vote or to serve on a jury. :(

I would ignore that poster, he is a troll and a liar and probably is registered but wants to get a rise out of people. He must exist as he is apparantly building 2 bungalows for himself and his children, while on JSA and with health problems. :rotfl::rotfl:

He does not want to do his thing to help the state, but just see what happens if the state want forget to pay him his JSA each week.

OP, I would write a letter ASAP explaining your issues with proof of your commitment (like a copy of your airline ticket etc) enclosed.

  • What about if you are a full time carer for a family member. Would they still expect you to do it?

Sorry to hijack the thread a bit like but... when you go to do the jury service does your job still have to pay you? Thanks

I got it deferred once (was 37 weeks pregnant) so got it deferred till after my maternity leave ended, work tried contacting them to get it deferred again and were told no way, can only do it once

If you are a fulltime carer and noone else can do it then you may be able to get exempted out of it, but not deferrment afer deferment
  • Was pressurised by work to defer, and did so. When I was called up again, I was again pressurised by work to defer. I said "its my civic duty, so not doing it twice blah blah" and work contacted them on my behalf and got it deferred.

I have never been called up again. This was a while ago, though and I think it has been tightened up.
Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x

Yep all of those, but not a troll!!

Yes I claim JSA (had to - found fit for work by ESA), still ill (have medical notes, opinion, references, sick note and records!!)

Yes I own a plot of land, and am project managing the build of two bungalows, one for us and the other for one of my daughters'.
Yes, if they forget to pay my benefit, just like anybody else, I will demand it.

Nope I don't want to upset anybody, just tell them that there are options other than working for peanuts.

    Why?

And waste my time listening to a load of excuses & lies!! No thanks!

Vote!! are you having a laugh??
I've never yet found a politician worthy of a vote - whatever party they stand for.

Lucky? Yes I am, I look after me and my own who in turn look after us. It's called familly, they are the ones that matter - no one else!

Oh and by the way, I also refuse to complete the Census documents that come round!

I don't agree that my name, that of my wife or my family, my beliefs, where I holiday, where I keep my money etc has anything to do with anybody apart from my wife & kids.
Too much info is shared with too many 3rd parties.
Take the HMRC, now working with Experian, with info obtained in the first place from Census records and the Electoral lists. And now we have DWP getting into bed with Experian acting as 'bounty hunters'!!

If you are happy for others to know your private business then that is your choice - mine is to refuse to have anything to do with it.
