Anyone Deferred Jury service twice?

Sorry, if this is the wrong place, there should be a general topic forum for questions like this.

I got a letter through today saying that i need to attend jury service in November - However it co-incides with my attendance and work commitment at a show in Germany where i will also be presenting.

The problem is i've already deferred once in July as I would have been out of the country again for the original request.

Can i defer again?
I'd actually like to do it, but both appointments have been crazily unlucky timings with important times in my careeer.

The official line is that you can only defer once... but has anyone had any luck deferring twice??

Thanks in advance

You can ask to have your jury service postponed if you have:
    • a hospital appointment or operation that you have been waiting for, or if you are recovering from an operation
    • an important family event such as a wedding or a holiday already booked and paid for
    • urgent work commitments that would be detrimental to the business if not completed in time.
These may prevent you from serving at the time you are summoned, but will not prevent you serving within the next year.

If you give a reason for your service to be postponed you will be asked to give all other dates in the next year when you are able to serve, so that the Jury Central Summoning Bureau can arrange a date which is more convenient.

Did you not do this bit?

Easiest way to avoid this palava is not to have your name on on the Electoral List!!

Never voted, never been asked to go on a Jury, in fact I don't exist according to Experian!! Yipeee!!! Big Brother eat your heart out!!

You missed the point I highlighted. Did you not tell them the other dates this year you were unable to work? Ie..November?

Can no one else go in your place? The urgent business needs is usually for sole traders, whereby the business would completely cease without the individual.
    Gone ... or have I?
