Depends on the quality of the mp3 obviously what bitrate was it?

Also , whats the music sound like?

I never really listen to audio this way anyway, I think it might be the same however you amplify this type of source.

I suspect you're right. I never listen to music. Bitrate etc is fine for mono audio.

I have to conclude its simply awful, much worse than a cassette adaptor but then I don't have one in car any more. One other thing, it's really difficult finding free space on the dial in London everyone and their aunt seems to be broadcasting.

I am not impressed with my transmitter so far. I've tried:

my cheap MP3 player player / Laptop
    batteries / ciggie lighter
    different volumes from source
    various frequencies
different locations 70 miles apart (urban and rural)

Basically, the sound quality is the same for all combinations. It sounds like a really weak FM signal.

I bought a 2nd transmitter for my Sister-in-law who has an iPod so will try it on that.
  • I do not have the same modulator as the one posted here but I do have this one...........

NB Link is to illustrate type not reccomend seller.

It works fine on everything I've chucked at it

Mobile phone Sony Ericcson K750i ,Nokia 6230, spv m600, xda 11s

    Portable dvd player, Acoustic Solutions

    USB memorysticks.

My only complaint is the volume needs to be upped a bit to get the same sound level as the normal radio/cd, which you need to lower BEFORE switching back to a normal fm channel or cd source.

The fm modulator idea works fine, and I am a bit PICKY myself, perhaps this modulator posted by the OP is NOT very good, in which case, not much to be said.
  • As far as I can see the so called 200 channels are gonna lead to problems as the only usable ones for most in uk are gonna be up to 89mhz cos after that its gonna get loadsa interference.

Of course it Does depend on where you live.

Ive had mine for a couple of days now, I use it with an Archos mp3 player, it took a bit of playing about with but ive tuned in to 95.0 and its great, it will obviously depend alot on where you live/drive etc but i am getting a perfectly acceptable signal and i am usually very picky with these kinds of things.
  • Mine arrived yesterday and I tried it this morning in the house. Works well enough for my purposes - I was listening to an audiobook while doing the ironing!

how would you compare the sound quality to the likes of Radio 1? Is it the same, close or acceptable. I can understand my MP3 player not being very good (it's a £10 'bargain' SD card type from 7dayshop that has acceptable MP3 sounds through headphones) but i'd have thought that my laptop would have performed better. As I said in my previous post, i'll be trying my sister-in-law's iPod on another transmitter before making judgement.

I don't think my problems have anything to do with location because there is plenty of free frequencies (i found 106-108 best) in Scotland.
  • I'd say once you raised the sound level up I'd say it was just as good and no noticeable difference.

Anyone having problems with their account? Still no transmitter so I tried to log in but my email address is not being recogised and they say they don't know me. Definately the right address, I'm sat here now reading the dispatch email from them. :(

No account number, no order number, nothing. All I got was an email with one sentence telling me my order was dispatched on the 4th. Flashlights (very dim) arrived well over a week ago. Feeling like this is a right shoddy outfit tbh. What a waste of £16.

I think channel etc have a bearing but I can say across the board the reception is poor and the sound quality appalling but that's a crowded central London spectrum. YMMV
