We stayed in 2 rooms in Southwark in April. We found them to be fine, and excellent location for the tube.0

King Cross Royal Scot - the hotel isn't clean but the rooms were and they were fine.
Waterloo is hellish hot. Fire alarm went off at 6 in the morning too but I expect that was because it was so hot not because there was actual fire.
Also the normal kings cross one is fine - in a lovely fronted building too. The premier inn at Kings cross is only a few years old now and is bright clean and close to everything including new restaurants and bars as well as the best tube connections in the whole city.
And sometimes cheaper then the travelodges"If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0 -
Southwark is a good one as fairly new, with an air conditioning unit on the wall of the rooms. 2 mins walk from Southwark Tube station and about 10 minutes walk from there to Waterloo for the Eye, London Aquarium Embankment, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben etc. Imperial War Museum nearby too. Boats go from the Embankment to the Tower if you fancy a change from the tubes or buses.
Stayed at Southwark and had no complaints. Also a few good cafes and carry outs in the area so if you are financially challenged it helps.
Avoid Royal Scot Kings Cross, not great at all.0 -

Totally agree about Southwark, could not fault it at all. We asked for a duvet & the guy was at the door within 2 minutes. Stayed at a 4 star (Mmmm) a few weeks ago near Chessington and we had a dirty towel in the bathroom, rang reception and an hour later (yes you read it right) we had to go to reception to request a replacement, so no complaints from me about Travelodge.Comping from May 2012
Thank you to all that post & contribute, I think you are wonderful, I could not achieve without your help0 -
I am trying Travelodge Farringdon for the first time so will report back on that (it is an "asquisition property" - hope that isn't a disclaimer :rotfl:but has any one got any alternative for baggage holding? I will be out of the hotel room at noon but was wanting to use some of the day in London to return early evening. Kings Cross have a baggage holding service but it's at least £8 a bag and we have 2! Pesky security invasions has got rid of the locker option :-( Any ideas, people much appreciated.. May do 1 helluva bag!0

Some of the museums eg Natural History have baggage lockers for about a squid0

We stayed at Tower Bridge in April and it was lovely, nicest travelodge I've stayed in and I've been to a few!
Yes, we like the Tower Bridge one too - comfortable rooms, good tube, DLR and river bus links, a Weatherspoons immediately opposite for good value meals and a Tesco express just round the corner. Only criticism I've heard (second-hand) is that the rooms can get hot in summer as there is no air conditioning on the upper floors.0
