Over the last 5 years, I have used Chesunt Travelodge mainly when I go to London. It is just outside London close to Enfield but easy to commute by train to central London. This means I can take my car & park my car for free at the Travelodge or on any road in Enfield. The rooms are in excellent condition there & the travelodge has a bar/cafe as well. Each time I tend to get very good prices £9-29 per night

I have used the London City Travelodge once & the rooms were pretty good as well. This one is fairly central as well & close to all amenities.
  • A friend of mine stays regularly in the Liverpoool street travel lodge and says its good - much better than lots of the others in central london. Haven't been there myself, but I would trust her recommendation.
  • I've stayed in both Liverpool street and tower bridge. The only hassle I've had is with the tube out at Tower Bridge - there were a lot of engineering works going on at the weekend on the District and Circle Lines so we had to use buses instead - once you get used to them, it's easy enough to get about. Both are very clean, although Tower Bridge is more up-to-date. The DLR and railway are just behind it as well although they have made measures to reduce the noise - worked ok for us, never got woken by a train. There's more shops and that around liverpool st so this may appeal more to you and the buses also run from outside the train station if needed. Enjoy your stay wherever you decide :D

I was working next to the Southwark Travel Lodge today and met Gordon Ramsay who was sitting outside having a coffee at the coffee shop next to the TL. He was surprisingly friendly, he is opening a restaurant about 100 yards away in the future
  • I wonder if it is in the restaurant a few doors up from the TL.

It was closing down last time we were there and had nothing on the menu, so we walked out in the end.

I wonder if he knows about the all night raves that take place in the car park round the corner!:eek: Poor Gordon.....

Any way, my vote is for Covent Garden as the car park next door makes it easy for driving.

I like Southwark too, now I have found the nearest car park.
I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 2010
  • Anyone know of any current hotel deals for London that would be valid for this weekend? I know very short notice but thought would give it a try

You could try www.lastminute.com and see if they have any lastminute hotels for your dates.
  • My boss stayed at the Southwark one and said it was dirty.

I stayed at the Euston one a few weeks back and it was really clean, it's right next to Euston station as well and seemed quite new.

We've stayed in the one at London City Airport a few times. It's modern, clean and we've never had any problems staying there. Oh and the rooms are soundproof - at least we never heard any noise from the planes taking off. It's about a 30min journey on the DLR to get there, but seems to be far enough our of the city that the prices at the weekend are in the £45 range, not the £100 range.

Personally, I'm not a fan of Travelodge. I would always favour Premier Inn over TL. I think you get better consistency in terms of room quality.

Also look up Tune Hotels who have recently opened in London.
