ETA have just seen a spammer's thread disappear on 2 forums now where they started the thread and there were follow ups, so it does have the same effect
How do you know the thread was removed by ordinary members hitting a spam button?
It could be the Forum Team that removed the whole thread?
(although admittedly unlikely at 8.30 on a Friday night)
Or I believe Board Guides also have the possibility to remove threads, especially if they are clearly spam."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

How come there's no spam button in this section?

Probably because that too is a sticky thread

Previously, there was no spam button because it related to the whole thread. Now it only relates to the individual post, I can't see why it should be missing from the sticky ones.
Still, there's always the Abuse button when needed.0 -
I like it but on the savings board typically a "Penny Stocks" spammer will add spam to a whole pageful of threads. Will this prompt you to check the user out and delete their account or do we need to press the button on every single one?0

It would prompt someone to look at the spammer - yet if the abuse team aren't online (we dont have 24hr coverage) then it'd take time. Pressing spam on each one would mean they all get deleted if enough people do it.Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.

Ok thanks. One other slight problem is when 1 user has spammed 30 threads if people just hit the button on a single random one the chances are it will never reach the threshold to trigger MSE to look into it.
Can I suggest you count the number of times the SPAM button is clicked in relation to a user rather than an individual post when deciding which ones to look into?0 -
How many hits does it take to be classed as spam and dissappear?
I think it may only be one as i had a post on the grabbit which wasn't spam...but I unknowlingly added a referral link from HDUK and one person rudely reposted the link with no explanation as to what i had done wrong. trying to make me look bad.
Even though i had normal links within the same post and i did ask them why they thought it was a referral post and next minute it disappeared.
Why can't people just help and not just get rid of a post, so i reckon it must be only 1 person that needs to click spam as my post literally was only posted a couple of mins and then vanished.
I make a mistake and my thread vanishes and so did the deal. The spam button can also be abused i feel0
