NEW spam button now live

Hi all,

We’ve now installed the new spam button. It works in the same way as the old one but it’s on every post now rather than just on the thread. Here’s how it works:

In most boards you can now click the button on every post, to signal you believe that it is 'Spam' (located bottom right of the post next to the abuse button). Hopefully it goes without saying but please only click something that you genuinely think to be Spam!

What happens: The post gets removed from the forums when enough users agree it's spam (though it is later reviewed by the abuse team, who could reinstigate it).

If it's an abusive rather than spam thread, please continue to use the abuse button or [EMAIL="abuse@moneysavingexpert.com"]abuse@moneysavingexpert.com[/EMAIL] to report it.

Is it allowed to use the Spam image for this?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spam_(electronic)#Trademark_issues sort of suggests it's not, though it doesn't seem to be particularly well enforced.

I like the idea of the new Spam button, but could you please adjust the position ? It appears at the end of the buttons, where the Enter button normally sits - I've already accidentally reported one post as spam today when I was reaching for the Enter button !

No spam button at all for me, old one gone and no sign of a new one using both IE and FF.

It doesn't appear to be available on any sticky threads.

I don't know if this was by intent, or indeed imply that there is any current post that requires reporting for spam therein, but I'm sure it won't take long if the spammers discover this apparent omission.

It's available on old threads, so it is not dependant on when the thread was created.
