I also want to not take my student loan for the last year of my course and be paying it back before I qualify. If I acheive £3k challenge then that should go along way towards my goals.
Annie surely you could take out the student loan at it's low apr and put it in an isa or high interest bank account and profit from the interest? Just a thought...? I've got a £1000 of my interest free overdraft in the NS&I isa...

Racking my brain for friends and family to see how many addresses I can use;) might get more tomorrow
Anyone want 7 bottles of Tobasco sauce???
You are welcome - and well done on getting the best price so far - hope you enjoy hot sauce in everything you eat
I checked they last until 2011, that's a bottle a year, and I think I will be stuck with at least 6 - have given the others away tho
You can use tabasco in cheese on toast... chilli con carne... spag bol... Bloody Marys... any 'red' sauce pretty much!
Course now we'll have to invest in plenty of antacid too :rotfl:MFW #185
Mortgage slowly being offset! £86,987 /58,742 virtual balance
Original mortgage free date 2037/ Now Nov 2034 and counting :T

I am getting confused with all the challenges coming up!
I would like to do a £1028 in 11 weeks challenge beginning 9th of January - would anyone who has been inspired by the current group of money from nothing wonders like to join me. I would set up the thread in the new year. Hopefully that would be ok with Emily? Has anyone heard from her yet?
On a technical note would I be able to use vouchers that I am due to get from pigsback but which were 'earned' before the challenge began?
Let me know your thoughts...

Could we manage what would effectively be 4 challenges on one thread? How about
- £3k gold
- £2k Silver
- £1024 bronze
I am concerned about Emily not being around and I hope she doesn't think we are treading on her toes. Has anyone heard from her?? We must give her credit for all of this as she was the one who certainly inspired me and it would never had lead to this without her.
Let me know what you think about the 3 challenges - I can't see a problem running them alongside each other. I shall/or Jpet start the 'Olympic Challenge' on the 6th Jan ready for the 7th. I f I have forgotten anything let me know please, I think Jpet has posted a list of those who have already expressed an interest.

From what i remember previously the pigsback vouchers would be allowed as long as you didn't need to spend any money in getting piggy points. I don't think it wouldn't matter when you got themDebt of £6300 cleared in 5 years, now ZERO0 -
Annie021063 wrote:As I am rarely in a position to save money I don't know much about interest etc. If I invested the loan (£1500 in Sept, Jan and then May I think - total about 4.5K what interest would I be looking at?? How much can you put into an isa over a year?

A mini cash ISA would be perfect. As you can put £3000 in per tax year (6 April - 5 April), you could put your £4500 in with no problems. NS&I have an ISA at 5.55%..0 -

I'm quite happyto go along with whatever people want to do.
My original idea was just to have a 3k head to head with a few target dates in between to have something to aim for but The Olympic Challenge sounds great - anything that helps us all along the way to being DF and I think by the sounds of it more people will be able to join in this way - and if people doing the bronze or silver finish early then they can move up and go for the next level.:j
I wasn't planning on the challenge money being all Money For Nothing - just 'extra' money that you have managed to gain on top of your usual income to clear your debts. What do people think?
However.... I was in a car crash last year and had whiplash. I received a letter from my solicitor saying that I've been offered 2k compensation!! He's going back to them saying that I want 3k - so I'm expecting them to settle halfway at about 2.5k!!!!!! - according to his letter I can expect to receive it between now and March 07!! I'm so excited - hopefully I will be DF long before I expected to be. Would it be OK with everyone if I still joined in with the Olympic challenge though and used the money to overpay my mortgage after I am DF?
Anyway, back to this challenge - it's the last day tomorrow for all those who started at the begining of the thread so I think it would be lovely to see how we've all done. Are you posting an update this week finallydebtfree? If you haven't got time I'm happy to do it?
