    Hi Everybody

Well I ordered the loft insulation yesterday, as our house only has the bear minimum of insulation so it is the next step along to reduce the heating costs.

However, for the past ten years we have been putting stuff in there and it now looks like one of those houses you see on the tv that people have trouble of disposing of anything. You get the picture.

You should have saw my hubbys face when I told him what I had ordered, as reality hit home.

Any way on a more positive note, going to start to sort everything out and my plan is to do a car boot sale or two with the stuff which will pay for the loft insulation and have extra over for in the mortgage pot.

And we will have a clear loft.

    Wish me luck

Good luck-i am picturing the scene in your loft...if it's anything like my loft it will be nearly full to the rafters of 'stuff' that you never threw away coz it will 'come in for something' or 'be handy to keep'-been there done that. i'm so not looking forward to sorting ours out...maybe in spring!!! :rotfl:

  • That must've been satisfying to get your loft cleared! Hope it warms up for your car boot or you'll need the insulation to wrap round yourself!

We are quite luck as there is a car boot sale that is undercover near to were we live and it is on all year round. Looking at the stuff in the conservatory I think I will have to do two so may go two weeks on the run will see.

Also does anybody know if there will be another free listing day on ebay as I have got lots of stuff to put on there as well. I am going to be busy again. I cant believe the amount of work sorting your house out makes.

  • Hi Everybody,

Had a rest from things this week after sorting the loft out. Still waiting for the insulation. Telephoned them and it is being delivered on Wednesday of next week.

Going to do a car boot next weekend as hubby is in work in the morning.

However, this week I have started looking at serious savings in the kitchen. I started with my little dog. He eats Bakers complete at the moment with either chicken or mince. I went to a well know pet store to see if we could buy something cheaper but to keep it healthy for him. the guy ended up giving me a very large bag to trial of one of there foods. This will last my little dog about a month and a half. I have also contact a number of companies and they have all sent me samples which will last about one month.

The best one yet is I entered the Bakers complete completition and I won a years supply of food, chews and treats. So now have about fourteen / fifteen months supply of food for my little dog.

    So a really successfull week.

Next week I am going to look at luches for all of us. The kids are now taking packed lunches so going to work on hubby as he spends about a fiver each day on his lunch. So that is my project for next week.

    Hi Everybody,

I have not posted on this thread forever, and no I didnt get lost in my loft. Since December we have:

January - Had a new roof on the front of the house as it was a flat roof and it was 15 years old so replaced it with a tiled roof.

    February - Re-decorated Bathroom 1

    March - Re-decorated Bathroom 2

April - Re-decorated our bedroom ( the kids didnt need doing )

May - Painted the conservatory and had a new floor put down

June - Re-decorated the hall, stairs and landing with new carpet and wooden floor in the hall.

July - Re-decorated the living room and dining room and had a new floor put down yesterday.

I am going to repaint the kitchen and then we are finished:j:j

So I really have been very busy. I have paid off another £1000 off the mortgage in April of this year so have made one overpayment.

Today I have telephoned and increased our mortgage payment again from £710 to £750 per month.

The balance as of today was £54,900.

Now all the work is done I can consentrate on reducing this amount.

Any ideas would be gratefully received.
