dont know if this helps, but when a battered fish and chip shop opened over the road, the value dropped by 10%. I am not sure if the fish were suffering from drug addiction but there were deffo hiding from fisherman.

To see a valuation put on my house that is £40,000 less than 2 years ago is galling to say the least.

Is is wrong to assume all of the devaluation is a result of this centre opening up across the road.

Did they miss this huge massive world-wide recession, massive job losses and reduction of lending as well? Or did they just say its down to this building ?
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Strange that I have been approached with a view to put my property up for a commercial sale by a company wishing to build residential flats on the plot my house occupies to service the activities of domestic, drug and alcohol abuse on the premises across the road from me.

A duplicitous, disingenuous local authority...whoever would have thought.
There is going to be domestic, drug and alcohol abuse on the premises?

Funny, I doubt they would put victims of domestic abuse in with drug addicts and alcoholics. But we can only take you at your word.

You have the solution. Sell to company promoting such anti-social activities, as they are so keen to buy.

    Well it is practical advice!!!

If your agents didnt mention any of this then they are having you on mate and you need to give them a wide berth.

Maybe you could sell the property yourself using private sales sites.

Be aware of the property misdescriptions act though if you choose to do this.

Don't have to take my word...how about the All Wales Strategy on Domestic Violence and Substance misuse. And no, I couldn't bring myself to sell under those circumstances.
  • Out of interest, how much was the house valued at in 2008?

That's better, but you really do need to work on your presentation skills;). I know that property prices are falling and the reasons nationally why this is happening. In my area house prices have been static for the last couple of years. Estate Agents work on commission and it isn't in their interests to talk a property down. 'If it were not for the fact that......' is the opening for a sentence that has haunted me for the last few days.
