I've been having fun with clipart and making birthday party invitations this afternoon.. Much fun
I've sourced a good starter bike with 7% quicdo cashback too, so the birthday plans are coming together.
For party bags - I cant decide between black paper bags or silver boxes. I would stick personalised bits to the front of either quite easily. I prefer the paper bags, but wondering if they might look a bit too 'homemade' for the community I live in. The silver boxes are that little bit more polished.
I think I am going to make the cake and ice it myself so I don't want the poor fellow to be too teased (I am from the school of very 'homemade' looking cakes sadly. It is probably the last party he will have so I want to make it something nice for him.
Was thinking Halloween as a theme for the party bags/cake. 10th October isnt too early do you think?
Other choices were Star Wars or Army, but Halloween is slightly more mainstream and would appeal to more children I thought.LMB: 2005 and got rid of £80k debt in 4 years (including getting mortgage down to 38k)

Mmmm chicken surprise.. is the surprise that all the frogs ran off with the chicken and it is actually mushroom pie?
Can cross a few things off my list now, but still haven't found my menu.. hope I don't need to take any meat out of the freezer or put the slow cooker on....LMB: 2005 and got rid of £80k debt in 4 years (including getting mortgage down to 38k)

Ace - on the book/HC on the line!
Pie, hmm the surprise is the cup-a-soup type that makes the gravey for the pie - dictates the type of pie it is (creamy, tomatoey or veggie) with the chicken leftovers/vegetables :rotfl:til I put my hand in the cupboard and retrieve the pack of soup to use - I won't know (there is the surprise)! One cupasoup makes just enough sauce for a decent pie - bit of a cheat but we need to use up the packets. :rotfl:
Our board says 'roast ds on sunday' -I think someones been messing around with it

LOL... he isnt very big but still I'm sure you could get a good couple of meals, plus a few days of cold cuts from him. A bit of a sacrifice after all that work he has put into his exams though :rotfl:Ace - on the book/HC on the line!

Cup a soup pie!.. now that is a good idea. I have some random ones to use up too that I bought for the campers. Good idea Mrs...
Still can't find my meal list.. I think my fatal flaw was it doubling up as a shopping list - I fear it may have been chucked in the fire...*gulp*LMB: 2005 and got rid of £80k debt in 4 years (including getting mortgage down to 38k)

            Hi Emma
My friend's little boy loved the fire poi! He showed me some of the tricks he can do with his normal poi and he's really good so I said it was ok for him to have a little go on the fire poi with his dad which went well. I was a bit rusty and out of practice and ended up hitting myself on the chin with a fire poi (first time I've ever hit myself!) but it didn't hurt at all really.
I also managed to get 8 things listed on ebay which I'm pleased with. Three of them are buy it nows with lots of items so hopefully I'll get more than one sale there. I guess that free listing weekends may affect the price you get for things but I put my start price at the minimum I was prepared to accept for my stuff so if I get one bid I'll be happy!
For the party bags, which are cheaper? Bags or boxes? That's an easy way of deciding which to go for! I'm sure the kids will be more interested in the contents rather than the packaging
Hope you have a good week - my OH is off work for the next 3 days (he's just done seven early shifts in a row) so that'll be nice 0 0

Brrr.. tis a chillier day today.. going to have to light the fire during the day today I reckon (my central heating broke down in June and I am waiting for the new central heating to be installed).
i got through a fair bit of my list yesterday so am pretty chuffed.
 Today's list
 Get lots of work done
Post birthday present to my nephew who will be 1 on Saturday and post an Amazon book
Write additional statement for the DLA form and then my work is done with it. His deaf teacher will write her statement on Thursday and then it can go in the post.. nearly 2 weeks before final deadline...woohoo
Stew on tea from meal planner, but I will do that tomorrow instead as it will work better with my step daughter here so must chose something else instead (maybe slow cookerish anyway)
Decide what we are going to do in October break - I miss the whole mists and mellow fruitfullness of England at this time of year - here we tend to go from Summer(ish) to hardcore winter. I dont have any childcare though as their dad is offshore, so I feel in many ways like we might as well go and have an adventure if I have to take time off work anyway.
Is anyone doing anything exciting this chilly Tuesday?LMB: 2005 and got rid of £80k debt in 4 years (including getting mortgage down to 38k)

Well done on getting things listed, I hope you make lots of sales.
I went for boxes after consulting my older son about what he would have liked at the time and he said he really wouldnt have cared.. so Halloween boxes it is as they were cheaper
Have a lovely time with your oh during his time off :j xLMB: 2005 and got rid of £80k debt in 4 years (including getting mortgage down to 38k)

Why oh WHY does the cat only make a beeline for my neat piles of newly printed invitations and important forms and put his footprints all over them when he has wet, muddy feet?!.... grrrrrr..
a bit of a comedy moment then with the dog trying to eat the cat (she does it in a playful way, they are mostly best friends) and knocking my nearly empty cup of tea, cereal bowl and a few other piles off the side as the muddy footprints were happening... Sometimes I wonder why I have pets.. i am far too messy for such things and they create even more housework that I didnt have time to do anyway
ah well, better clean up the carnage.....LMB: 2005 and got rid of £80k debt in 4 years (including getting mortgage down to 38k)
