  • With those quantities I would only have put in one handful of lentils. They never look much when you first put them in but they do bulk out quite a lot. Hope it has worked out ok for you and even if it hasn't don't let it put you off ;)

Hi all! Chilli turned out fine yesterday, didn't need any extra water!
I'm really impressed with the addition of lentils, made it so much more filling, we had loads left over and finished it off at lunchtime today with some 9p noodles! result! :D

Off to trawl through the threads now for some more goodies I can make using lentils! Would like to try a soup next time..nom nom

Thanks for the help, much appreciated
    xx

    Hi

Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on this cookworks 3.5 L

Is it enough for 4 good size portions or more 2 large? Thinking about it as a present.

    Thanks in advance

I think that is pretty much the one that I have, well I have an older version of it as my mum bought it a couple of years ago. It was definitely the cheap Cookworks one from Argos at the time anyway. We are a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids) and I can easily feed us with it with some leftovers.

I bought some chicken breasts as they were on offer and was planning on making moroccan chicken with them tomorrow. As I was planning on buying thighs (but the on offer breasts were cheaper) I was going to make it in the SC, but now I'm not sure whether to using breasts as I don't know whether they will stand up to the long cooking as well? Should I do it on the hob instead?

  • Seems a silly question this:o but I've just taken delivery of a 6.5L slow cooker and nowhere in the instructions does it say whether to use hot or cold liquids:confused:.

With my ancient Tower cooker the instructions said to always add boiling hot liquids to it but it also advised sauteeing ingredients first whereas I get the impression that with the modern ones there is no need. This one has low, hot and keep warm settings so I'm thinking maybe using cold liquids and putting it on hot for a bit would bring it up to the right temperature and then turn it down to low? Would be grateful for any replies. TIA.
