    Hi all,

Does anybody have a tried and tested recipe for Coq au Vin for the Slow cooker.

Just looked at Delia's recipe but the cooking time is quite low and I'm not sure it would survive 7-8 hours. Has anybody tried it ?

    Cheers

I haven't done it but am sure it would be fine - in my opinion anything casseroled benefits for a really long slow cooking time.

Sounds yummy - I think i might do it this weekend too :)

I've done Coq au Vin many times, both via a do it myself recipe, whatever I had available, with just a chicken stock cube and red wine, bouquet garni, or I used to use the packet mix. No problems, but the chicken can be a little dry if you don't seal them first. I used Auto setting, which resorted to low once up to heat.

    Hi all
Thought i would just share this with you, followed the advice on here and bought a fresh chicken from Tesco and bunged it in slow cooker on a bed of root vegetables and onions with a 1/2 pint of water and 1/2 pint of cheap white wine, put it on LOW for 5 hours and wow what a nice tea, it was well cooked, fell off the bone and i roasted the veggies a bit from the base and also did roast pots with paprika on them, blitzed the juices and made a nice white wine gravy, its was yum yum, we all ate loads and was a nice cheap meal and very nice too......
p.s. was always a bit scared of chicken not being cooked properly but saw on this board that it does and now realise its very good - try it!

i googled a recipe a couple of wees ago and chucked in what i had rather than exactly what the recipe said and it was really good. Tesco were doing bogof on chicken peiced so was a perfect way to use them up.

    Hope you enjoy!
  • Hi all,

Up until this point I have only ever lurked on these boards, the things I have learnt from you all have been such a help to me so far so I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me with a slow cooker chicken curry receipe. I have never made my own curry before so do not have a clue where to start! I did try searching for one but I don't think i've quite got the hang of it yet :o

    Thanks in advance
