It says "1 cooking function" in the discription, so I reckon it only has on/off button.

    That's what I thought :(

So, would that power rating of 120 watts be high or low?

Can you half make up a recipe the night before?

I am sure the question has been asked a thousand times before, but I can't find the answer.

DH and I are going to climb Blencathra tomorrow with my sister and her husband. I wanted to out Goulash in the slow cooker but as we are planning a very early start I wondered if it was possible to start it tonight and just stick it on sc in the morning?

    Any hints or tips?
Can I ever learn this budgeting lark? So far it's not looking promising

I quite often chop things up and stick them in the fridge overnight so I can just chuck it in in the morning. My folks have a rather chilly kitchen and in winter they put everything in the slow cooker and leave it out - my kitchen is pretty toasty so I can't really do that!

I have started the meal in the slow cooker the night before and then put it onto cook again in the morning.

I find with stews using a lot of root vegetables are better if you give them an hour or so the night before.

Just put everything in the pot, cover it, pop it into the fridge and then just set it off in the morning.

Cant actually see any point in part cooking in prior to the main role.
    Apart from wasting electricity.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Along with many others I'm planning a bit of a do for the jubilee weekend. Along with the usual BBQ foods, I was going to prepare some Chilli Con Carne in the slow cooker.

Because of the issues of keeping rice warm, I was going to cook some potatoe wedges in the oven to go with the chilli. I have a second slow cooker and was wondering if it is possible to keep the wedges warm in the slow cooker?

No idea but I would have thought they would be likely to go soggy. Wedges need to be hot and fresh in order to be crispy.

oooh think i agree they wud be nicer fresh or what about pre-cooked baked potatoes and then you can pop them back in oven/microwave to reheat or stick them on the bbq ? A baked potatoe filled with chilli con carne is yummy :) moggy
