My chicken boiled in its own juices!,I wanted it more like a roasted chicken,
ive just realised my Breville mm14 is described as a "one pot cooker",(rather than a slow cooker-looks identical to a slow cooker tho)and after having it for aprox 2yrs i finaly read the instructions...it does mention that on "High" food will boil(my boiled,instead of roasted chicken is proof of that:rolleyes:)maybe I should be cooking on Low for slow cooking.it mentions low will simmer.(this maybe explains why mine is 250watts compared to others at 90 or 120watts),,,gonna have to try cooking on low now for proper slow cooking.
does anyone know if theres any way of telling what wattage each cooking setting is?,im assuming High is 250w,how would i find out what Auto or Low was?Slimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.

Hi, I'm new to slow cooking and have just put a lot of veges(onions, garlic and peppers pre cooked in a little oil, with mushroom, aubergine, tomatoes and carrots) in the slow cooker with some curry powder and a little water, but I don't know how much liquid to add. I am separately cooking some red lentils in a pan to add when they are cooked. If anyone has any advice I'd be grateful.
I nearly added this to the 'whats in your slow cooker' thread but thought I may get more advice this way.
Thankyou in anticipation.

As vegetable curry takes no more than 30 mins to cook on the hob (and IMHO overcooked vegetables are inedible
) I'd add a cup or 2 of water, and do the curry straight on the hob
I'll add this to the SC Quick Questions thread later, to keep queries together.

Only enough water to cover them. They will take quite a while to cook though. Were you hoping to eat it tonight? The idea is generally that you put it on in a morning to be ready in the evening.GC Jan £318/£350, Feb £221.84/£300, Mar £200.00/£250 Apr £201.05/£200 May £199.61/£200 June £17.25/£200

Thnakyou! No it's to freeze. I had some ys tomatoes that need something doing with them so have peeled and chopped them and was going to make tomato sauce to freeze but also had some peppers and aubergine that needed using so thought I'd make a curry. I don't mind veg being overcooked as dd won't eat it if she can see what it is!!!!
I can see I'll be getting up in the middle of the night to switch it off!!July grocery- 24.40/220. NSD-1/3.

Veg can take a long time to cook in the SC unless they are chopped really small, so I'd be inclined to do it on the hob too.0

i love vegetable curry cooked in the slow cooker! Vegetables always absorb the flavours well! I dont cook it any other way now. I only cook vegetarian meals in mine.0

Hiya
I have never cooked rice in a slow cooker and fancy giving it a go as I have a few leftovers that need to be used up pretty sharpish. These are as follows:
* some poussin/ garlic/ rosemary stock
* some chicken
* some fried onions
* 4 mushrooms
* 1/3 small glass white wine
* 1/3 tin flageolets
* some tinned peeled tomatoes
The rice is easy cook which I understand is what should be used for slow cookers... Now, I am a bit worried about it all ending like soup if I just throw it all in and hope for the best.. Any ideas on how I should go about it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you...0 -
How did you get on?,I think my SC recommends rice be cooked seperately then added near the end of cooking...have you seen the "whats in my slow cooker today posts?"...fantastic ideas there.Slimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.
