I slept with my fleecy throw under my normal duvet last night for the first time last night, super snuggly. Also have been wearing thermal tights for the past week!

No heating on yet, going to try and hold off on that for as long as possible.

I'll be wearing these as pyjamas this winter! I bought two sets - might go back for more today, http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/special_buys3_20717.htm
plus another pair of their thermal trousers http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/special_buys3_20712.htm

Ooo Thermal trousers will be great for OH when he's working outside in the winter - he got caught in a blizzard in his digger (with no cab) in just his jeans last year - thought he was never going to defrost!

I wish my DH would wear them. He works outside a lot & most of the time he'll come home complaining he's cold. Men eh!?

It is just a continuation of what I posted yesterday which the mainstream nationals are now picking up on. I just think that the winter is going to come in hard and fast. We self imposed a deadline timescale to get all the jobs around the house done by the end of September. Last October when we had our new boiler fitted it was cold then (first week of Oct) and then it turned hard and fast. This year will follow the same pattern!

It seems to be warming up outside. the thermometer says 18 degrees inside and thirteen outside, i went down the garden last night around midnight to fetch kittie in and i was only wearing my nightie and i was warm! I didn`t think to look at the temperature when i came back inside - wish i had.

This morning is a nasty bleak grey, it isn`t raining now but it has overnight, i feel like snuggling up in front of the telly and not having to go out.

The washing has to be hung on the airer in the spare room and the bedding will be going in tonight so i`m hoping for a sunny morning at least for tomorrow or i will be struggling. I think that i`ll check the forecast later and may shove the washing from today in the dryer for a short blast to help it along a bit - only in the early hours mind when the E7 kicks in :D

I feel like a good grumble as a week later i`ve still got a stinking cold, bad chest and cough along with congestion that you wouldn`t believe, i never used to get things like this but the last couple of years seem to have been exceptions and i`m not pleased!

Hope that your days are warm peeps.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

They're all lovely and quilted inside and feel so cosy - I'll certainly be warmer this winter than I was last year. Warm jackets, gloves, hats etc., warm boots and socks - but it was always that bit in between - the legs - that got cold!
  • LadyDee - I had the same thoughts re wearing the Aldi underwear as jim-jams. I already have a set of men's thermal underwear bought a couple of years ago at a charity shop - they were still in an unopened packet but must have been 40 years old! They make great nightwear.

Not surprised about the forecast really - it's been happening like that for a few years now - early snow then no snow but very cold for the rest of winter round here.

Winter prep is standing me in good stead at the moment. Hadn't really taken on board the fact that as I live on my own, a new, very young puppy would make me virtually housebound for a while :o Have been making good use of my retro quilted dressing gown recently when taking him out for his late night and early morning sessions and have a menu for this week entirely composed of stuff in the freezer/cupboards. And the looroll stash is coming in handy too :rotfl:

  • Well the sun is shining here but it is chilly. Last two nights i have woken up and been cold. So no more vest and shorts for me! Will be swapping the summer duvet for winter one at the end of this week when OH goes away to work I think.

Calamity with my slow cooker and a ham hock last night. Lets just say not enough water and a small creamtion may have occurred:eek: Oh well...

Pretty much organised now, still need to keep stocking up my store cupboard. Especially on cat food, tins etc.

No heating on still I am going to try and last until middle of october. We are well in credit with the gas/eleccy so going to keep bumping that up.

Hope all are well and those who need a hug are ok.

I am guessing you mean DH? Would one of THESE be useful? :D
