Confuzzled - I have no choice. This is not a life I planned but is the one I have so I have to just get on with it. TBH I am shattered now and would love to just work the one job (as soon as the cottage is finished) and have time to do stuff such as ironing!:D The only time it really does get too much then my back goes into meltdown and I struggle to move - then I get a proper grumpy mare! :D

My coal pile would make you more envious :rotfl:

    Roll on that Indian summer.

My mum is in the Fens right near a river so I hope that doesnt break its banks.
  • It's bonnie Scotland reminding us that it's def cooler up here ....

Very tempted to stick the gas fire on for 10-15 mins to warm downstairs up a bit (usually all it takes) and I guess better than a) sitting here freezing for the rest of the day or b) putting the heating on!

Beings as some of you are stocking up on laundry products Sainsbury's have the Fairy Non Bio Liquid 30 washes normally £8.68. It is on offer for two for £10.00 which is a good deal.

I use this for handwashing as well, not sure that you are meant to but it does the job for me!

To me that is expensive even at £10 as I buy the big boxes of Daz and only use 2 tbsp per wash - one box lasts me 6 months!!!

I went into the 99p shop today and got 3 of the silver windscreen shade thingies... Popped them behind the radiators in addition to my heath robinson cardboard, bubblewrap and tin foil ones from last year :D

risingfromtheashes - you could go and have that bath/shower now you know. Plastered/bandaged leg wrapped in a bin liner stuck to leg with some sort of tape. Then repeat - ie double wrap. Shower probably better and watch out for slipping on plastic - use a bath mat or towel in the shower. If you have a bath prop your leg on the side of the bath or over a small piece of wood or whatever laid across it. Splashing will be fine, long time immersion probably not. Long time ago but worked for me :)

I am far enough inland and safe, but I will warn the rest of my family in case they were thinking of going that way.

LOL, thanks - I tried that the other day and somehow managed to slip, go flying and nearly kill myself:rotfl:- however, I was quite impressed that when I eventually managed to right myself, I found I'd landed on my bottom and had somehow managed to keep the bad leg sticking out of the water:D.... not really something I want to repeat tho' (although I didn't have a towel in the bottom of the bath which maybe why I slipped).

I'm a bit extra paranoid being in the house by myself if I did hurt myself I'd be really stuck!

Who would buy one of those houses??? You would never get house insurance and even if you did you would only be able to claim once and then nobody would insure you
