Thanks jamanda, I'll definately be giving it a go this winter then!"Ignore the eejits...it saves your blood pressure and drives `em nuts!"0

Sunny day --Just got back from Mr M's - but NO DUVETS or bedding at all! I asked and they said they only carry it when its 'on sale' - didn't really understand what he meant by that but he did say they would be some next week, so fingers crossed. I wonder if your store is a mega big one?debt free 2021 at current DMP rate[/COLOR] (probably be in an old peoples home by then)0

Afternoon preppers
Well that's another one crossed off my list.....both pairs of autumn/winter boots are now reheeled and I remembered to get some suede protector too
More winter prepping for me tomorrow when I go to do my weekly shop
As for who will be wearing their craghoppers first.....well I think it'll be us lot in ScotlandAs my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0 -
Lol, i want some more *stamps foot* but all the ones in my size have gone. I`ll still keep checking though just in case any more magically appear.
Mine are all over the place. Some are stashed in the top of the wardrobe and i have a storage rack in the shed that is fullI`d really be better off moving them indoors soon though as one year we had mice in the outbuildings and i really don`t want the little varmints ripping my loo rolls to shreds
I love the cooking bacon too, i went to look for some earlier today as MrM`s have it but the shelf was empty. I`ll keep looking though as my lentil and bacon soup is a winter warmer that i just can`t do without. I have tried a different recipe this week which is one of Mrs Mcawbers - chicken and sweetcorn soup. I made it with chicken stock and didn`t even put any of the meat into it and it was stunning. I now have two lovely cheap soup recipes that will be firm favourites this year.
After reading earlier i had a real hankering for cottage pie you naughty lot, i`ve been rummaging around and now have a nice dish full of beef stew Yum! I have nice HM crusty bread to have with it too. :Looks like the menu plan is changing over early this year. I just can`t bring myself to seat summery salads when its cold and wet outside much as i love em.

Kn0rr do a ham stock cube which is what I use in my lentil soup instead of bacon - hope that helps0 -
I know this has probably been asked before, but can anyone give me any experience info on that film you put over windows please? The plastic kind that you tape on then use a hairdryer to taughten. There's an awful gap around my windows, and the glass themselves gives out a heap of cold air in winter, so I was wondering if investing in this plastic film would be worth it. Is it cheap (could only find two on Ebay, around four and half by thirteen metres for around twenty quid I think) and does it last the winter?
Ive used the double glazing film from Robert Dyas for the last two winters and it has made a MASSIVE difference to my freezing living room as Ive got very draughty sash windows. Its easy to put up - I normally do it in October and take it off in March. It lasts the winter and although it makes your windows look a bit misty/opaque it is well worth it.0 -

Its really easy to use - they supply you with double sided tape which goes around the window frames then you attach the film, its like firm cling film, then use a hairdryer which shrinks all the wrinkles/folds out. As someone else said, the visibility isn't great which can be annoying but cuts out all drafts and prevents condensation and feels a lot warmer.
The real beggar is trying to get the tape off if you want to take it off for spring/summer (provided we get a spring/summer of course  ) but the film comes off easily enough and yes, it will last all winter, easily. In fact I had some at my last house on an obscured glass window and didn't bother to take it down - I reckon it was up for 3 years
I paid 6 sq m for around £6 inc postage for mine on ebay a couple of days ago and there were a few on there then... It must be us lot buying them up0 -
My craghopper trousers and fleece arrived today too. Very quick service as I used standard delivery! My bottom half is a standard size 8 and they fit nicely. They feel lovely and warm and can't wait to try them down the allotment! In fact my OH has ordered some of the mens trousers (and fleeces) and I've ordered my mum a pair.
The white fleece is lovely too. Ordered a 10 and its a generous 10 so I might have been better off with the 8 tbh. Also it leaves little bits of fluff on my clothing below. I wonder if that will cease once its had a wash. Am debating sending it back despite it looking gorgeous.
My lakeland clothes dryer (http://www.lakeland.co.uk/21736/Dry-Soon-Heated-Tower-Dryer) turned up to so I've 2 loads on it now. It seems to be drying well, but I'll report back.£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190 -

Not surprised, I thought it was a good deal for £8 at Mr T's - doh! Still I have joined the toilet roll mountaineers
Anyone looking for de-icer at Mr T's needs to look carefully. I didn't see any when I popped in last week then when I tried the second time I spied them on the very top shelf right at the back. Cue a visit to CS to find a tall person with a step. So motoring section, top shelf, barely visible in my store (but yellow SEL gave it away).
Spending too much at the mo so need to jobs around the house and garden. Listing like mad on ebay to shift some clutter and free up money. Weather very up and down at the mo, warm but wet on and off (in south east). Seems like a constant rush to and from the washing line! Getting dark much earlier too, I work in the community in the evenings and am starting to finish work in the dark. Can't stress enough how pleased I am with the poundland squeeze powered torch someone recommended a few weeks ago. Good light and holds the charge well. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

GQ - are you sure Yaxtrax work on ice? I thought they only worked in snow but perhaps I am being dim.
I will investigate further before purchase, as well as taking a couple of samples of boots and shoes to the store to try the fit.
We don't get a lot of snow here but what happens is that a couple of inches' worht of snow gets squashed down by trampling feet and takes days and days to melt off the city pavements and is a major nuisance underfoot. Anything which makes my life easier will be very welcome. If its really bad I shall throw dignity to the wind and stride out with my Yaktrax and my two pointy hiking poles. :rotfl:In the city centre......
Ahh, one of the unexpected joys of being middle-aged; one really doesn't give a damn what people think.
Slightly off-subject but my camping prep received a happy little boost today; Lloyds had randomly reduced the insect repellant from 5.96 to 59p....happy happy GQ and hopefully unbitten.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
