It's chucking it down again:(
I think i'll make a cottage pie rather than the light lunch I was planning for friends.
Ohhh thanks for that - I was wondering what to make for dinner tonight and I now really fancy Shepherd's pie!
(Never quite worked out the difference between them)?took advantage of the Branston Buy one get two free offer - DD15 asked if I was starting a wind farm!! She'll be glad of them on her baked potatoes in the winter!
Just back from Mr T's - not a place I go often as I have some issues with them and also find it's really expensive compared to my usual supermarkets - but I wanted to see if they had the beans there - happy to report they did:). Not sure what on earth I'll do with them all tho'. Thanks to everyone who suggested them.
Whilst there, I stumbled across one of my issues with them - wanted a biggish jar of coffee.... went to pick up the 300g jar and then looked at the prices of all of them ...
100g jar = £1.49/100g
200g jar = £1.30/100g (ok so far).....
300g jar = £1.59/100g ....grrrr:mad:
Not just the coffee either ... pasta was the same, and also got some extra table salt (just in case) - a 750g tub was 20p but a 1.5kg bag was 89p ... another big difference.:(
How many people don't look and end up paying more by buying the bigger jars/packs of things, it's really underhand IMHO (and I can appreciate how easily it'd be done if you're in a hurry, have kids with you etc).
Still, a couple more bits in the cupboard (notably the beans), a couple more tins of soup and some more pasta sauces (I did find some 500g jars for 75p but they were hidden right on the bottom shelf so easily missed).
No de-icer tho' (having a wee stomp of my own!):D
Not sure what to do with myself for the rest of the day - damp and drizzly so no chance of getting the mountains of washing out.
Think I need to have another sort through the cupboards and try to re-organise a bit - my winter store one is overflowing so need extra room!
Must also update the list of everything in it ......Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Hi, you know these Yaxtrax things? The idea sounds fab BUT do you have to take them off every time you want to go inside a shop? Because its the packed ice in town that's the killer for me.Cogito ergo sum. Google it you lazy sod !!0

Rising From The Ashes - Cottage Pie is made with beef and Shepherds Pie = lamb... Hence the name Shepherd's
My Mum always called cottage pie, shepherds pie and old habits die hard so I do forget and call it shepherds pie sometimes even if its made with beef0 -

Yes, I'm afraid so... they are only designed for snow and ice, although they do not work on black ice apparently.
You are likely to slip on smooth floors if you don't take them off.0 -
:j my craghoppers have arrived, bit like xmas round here with all the parcels! And they're fab. Not sexy looking mind but very comfy and lovely and warm. Hubby hadn't seen his yet, hope he likes them
Another job done, all hats, scarves and gloves now in the wash. Am hoping the kids still fit. And winter bedding basket all sorted, lots of warm blankets and throws, just need duvet for DD and beds all done.

Hi Peeps
well it started off horrible this morning and its now all bright and sunny! Bit windy though, i had planned to start the other window in the lounge but i`ll have to wait until a bit later when the sun goes off it. Just taken Dad to MrM`s for his shopping and they have reduced the prices of all the winter quilts but the summer ones are more expensive lol. I picked up a 13.5 tog single duvet for £3.99 so i can cut that in half and make a blanket each for the doggies for when it gets colder
I wonder how long it will be before the "Is your heating on or off" thread is being posted on regularly again? With the way the temperatures have been here at night i doubt that it will be long, it was another of my favourite threads last year.
My yaktrax have just arrived :j really good fit for my boots too so i`m well chuffed, i also ordered the trespass base layers that someone posted a couple of pages back so thanks very much for the link Frugal DH works in an unheated area so they will come in very handy. So far for DH`s Christmas box i`ve got lined trousers, fleeces, thermals, socks and beer :rotfl: I had planned on giving some bits to him for his Birthday so that he was prepared for bad weather but he wanted concert tickets so the warm stuff will be given later.
I`ve just bought some no more nails strips in MrM`s, has anyone used them before? I was dreading climbing up on the draining board to drill holes for the new curtain track but i think that i`m going to try these instead. They claim to hold over 2.75 kg in weight so they should be good for a light plastic track and a pair of fleece lined curtains i think *crossses fingers* Think that i`ll give the new towel rail a try with them too, i had drilled holes for that but ended up losing my temper with it and its back down again now, the holes have been filled and now they need sanding and painting then i can try the strips.
The carpet tiles have also arrived :j they are absolutely perfect - just what i wanted to cover the nasty uneven concrete floor in the kitchen, its been like that for two years so the only thing that will need doing is some boxing in and the radiator putting back on and then i`ll have a finished kitchenThe rad etc will probably get done next spring though if i`m honest with myself, i`m still saving for the new doors and if i`m lucky i`ll get at least one fitted before the bad weather.
Crikey look how i`ve rambled! Thats a result of reading for a few days and then posting everything all at once :rotfl: I do think that i`ve done most of the spending now and can hunker down and get all the jobs done though so i`m really pleased.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0
