If you keep taking them off the rim and putting them on (assuming the tyres survive this) you have to pay £15-£20 per wheel, each time you want them changed.

Crikey thats expensive, my workmate was charged £10 for changing them over and fitting them (per wheel) thats what i`d budgeted for when mine need doing. I think that i`ll be ringing up soon to get a quote.

My brakes are going to be replaced in October and i`d planned on getting everything done at once so if the costs are that much then i`ll be re-thinking my budget.

    Fingers crossed!

I`m chutney making at the moment :D Onion marmalade is on the go now and then i have a lovely chutney recipe to make afterwards. I should have plenty of nice goodies to put in the Christmas hampers this year. I`m thinking of making treacle toffee too - does anyone know how long this will keep?

Just had a knock at the door and my winter lined trousers have arrived, they are perfect. I ordered two pairs so the other pair will go in DH`s Christmas box :D

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

My door curtain/fleece combo is a triumph, even if I do say so myself. It's a half glazed PVC door and I couldn't put anything above the door there's no wooden baton and it would be a nightmare to drill holes as its a solid wall. So I put bits of velcro across the top of the door and the other bit of velcro around the header tape strings. So far staying up. The added bonus is that the cat flap is now also covered as that let through a draught.

My food store is coming on nicely. I keep buying the 2kg bag of sugar in tesco as it's £1.29 which I think is cheap. Need quite a lot for when the blackberries are ready to turn into jam.

I went into Iceland and they had 4 tins of crosse and blackwell spaghetti and beans for £1. And the John West tuna in there is still 4 tins for £3. A few of them made it into the cupboard.

I have just been to asda and their 2kg bags of sugar are £1.20 and I thought of you and bought 5:) Princes tuna chunks are 8 for £5.00, so I grabbed a couple of 4 packs and one of the best things for me was Sunflower Oil at £1.10. It was previously £1.58. My storecupboard (or boxes under the bed for winter) is beginning. I also picked up 300 hours worth of burning tea lights for £5.

Thanks for making me look at the sugar:beer:
  • Hi all,

brown chick peas 25p a can
    vermicelli noodles 25p 200g

Napolena toms were half price at £1.94 too if you prefer those..
    18 loo rolls for £6

    For the freezer

My efforts still pale into insignificance compared to most of you but I've managed to get 10 tins of tomatoes and 24 loo rolls this morning. Couldn't carry anymore so the plan is to buy the same on Thursday when I'm off work again.

Also got the chimney sweep booked for next Tuesday. The cost is £35 so cheaper than the one I used last year and at least I know it's out of the way.

I am really jolly today, last night we brought a table from the dump shop, i have been desperate for a table for us to eat at since we moved into this house 4.5 years ago. Our house is really oddly designed and we do have a sort of breakfast bar but nowhere to really put stalls. Getting a table was so hard because there isn't really anywhere for it to go, our downstairs is small, just kitchen and living room which is open plan so more like just one big room lol. So anyways we brought this little square table for £3.50 it really is only big enough for the 2 of us, perhaps a little person too if we get lucky in that department ;) but it will do until we get our bay window "dug out" and then i won 2 chairs on ebay for £10 so 2 chairs and a table for £13.50 :) and i have some material which i can use as a table cloth :) Just need place matts now.
Winter prep is coming along, this is the first year we have a shed, normally the guinea pigs come indoors but we are putting them in the shed this year and we have discussed how we are going to insulate it and hubby can get the stuff from work so he is aiming to do that the 2nd week in October.
Im watching some woolly jumpers on ebay.
Ive been hunting everywhere for a rain coat/ pac a mac in my size (plus) but everywhere is £27+ and thats just too expensive really especially as im loosing weight and will only get one winter out of it.
I have taken inventory of the food and am in the middle of doing a menu plan now and am going to head up and sort my wardrobe out in a minute (hubbys was done the other day).
Im also going to get a duvet for the sofa using our shop and scan argos voucher on saturday and ive got 2 bits to take back to new look as they were sale i think i can only exchange so ill be looking for something warm!
Everything is always better after a cup of tea

LO's winter jacket should arrive today (well if Next ever get there finger out - 3 mess ups on one order!) Going to get him a second one too so that I don't need to worry about him getting it durty. I always struggle to get things dry in the Winter. - Actually just arrived:j:j

Also, while gutting out my bedroom I found flannelette sheets for the LO's cotbed. Score, one less thing off the list.

Car is away for its service/MOT/winter check today. Breaks deffo need done but its a family friend doing it so mates rates :j. Car box will done soon.

Snow shovel has arrived, not actually opened it yet but it seems good. Might buy another - then OH doesn't have an excuse not to help with snow clearing :rotfl::rotfl:

Hope you don't mind me posting my pic, but i thought you friendly bunch might have a good idea and what on earth i have above my porch door. I seem to remember a curtain once hanging there when we came to view the house. I am trying to prep for winter and want to hang one there again. I went to have a look at how i would hang something like that and found there is already some sort of track there. I have never really noticed it  and i now need to work out what sort of hooks/fittings it takes to hang from. Would anyone know?

It's completley flat on top with the underneath hollow

Snow chains are just for snow. They fit over your existing tyres. I have never driven using them so this year will be the first.

Mummy Red has bought Baby Red (me) some flannelette sheets so I am well chufffed.

In relation to drying I am thinking about buying a Maid (cant remember the whole name) and putting it in the spare room. But as I have Steve the burner he drys out most things pretty quickly!

That looks like an existing curtain track to me in which case you need the hooks that kind of clip onto it. However, it could also be like mine and in that case you fix hooks that look like a horseshoe with two balls on top which would go either side of the front piece. I hope that makes sense!!! Have a closer look and see whether either would fit it.
