  • Not sure if i mentioned this already but i managed to find 'larger lady' thermals online a few nights ago. I've ordered 2 of the long janes, though not ordered any thermal tops yet. Just in case any other larger ladies are having trouble finding plus size thermals, here is where i found mine . The long janes i ordered were only £6 a pair as well. I must say, i'm in no way connected with the company, i have just had a lot of difficulty finding plus size (in my size) thermal underclothing.

  • Last year we had guests who came for dinner but the weather turned bad and they ended up staying overnight. In case this happens again this year, I'll make sure the blow-up bed is in good order, our sleeping bags are all clean and will pick up some value toothbrushes to keep in for unexpected overnight guests!
  • Any ideas where the best place to get a food flask is? I'd like to get one for both my DH and myself so we can have a proper hot meal away from home and I can reheat some of my homemade ready meals in the morning and put them in the food flasks to keep warm until lunch (or so the theory goes ;) )KB xx

    Hi kitchenbunny,
I don't know how good these are or even if they're the cheapest (not bought one yet to try out) but when I was in my local Netto at the weekend they had some wide fat lightweight flasks (or more like the thermal cups with lids) which would probably hold a normal size tin of soup. They also had a screw on clear container underneath, to put sandwiches in I suppose? They were £4 and called something daft like Big Boy lol.

In poundland yesterday saw the plastic stuff for windows that you heat up with a hairdryer.

Not sure what brand but I did see a yellow duck on it.

    HTH someone.

I was just checking the weather forecast for next 5 days.
It looked fine until BIG drop on Saturday

Enjoy as much warmth and sunshine as you can cos here comes the winter.

That's not good. DD is going away with school on Friday and will "die of embarrassment" if I try and pack a jumper for her as it will be "so uncool" :rotfl: She's been off today ill (couldn't speak/swallow this morning stupid sore throat/cold bug which is going around - OS treatment & she's back in tomorrow much better ;)) so she's taking SOMETHING ;)

Note to self: On top of everything else, check weather forecast for north wales for the weekend on Thursday night :o

  • Last year my MIL "double Glazed" her already double grazed council windows with just normal clear plastic and double sided tape and she said she found it soooooo much better, once her nets were up she couldn't see it from the inside and well frankly didn't care what anyone else thought of her cloudy windows! Hubby remembers stuffing gaps in the walls and windows with newspaper when he was a kid (tho the council have updated it a bit since then) so its known to be a bit of a cold 'ole.

This is one they do. http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/Flasks+Food-Storage/Style-Works-Food-Flask-1ltr/invt/0285293?htxt=dhbbf8pdO47p4Y9SMJqd2ootlZngGu90ubTh72TUOcCapPdQ7WAKFLURqauLpNlkNym15gf%2F66vm%0AZ73o2HrpCw%3D%3D its a 1ltr flask. If soup is smooth then a normal flask will do. I can remember many a school lunch time drinking oxtail soup and dipping bread in it out of my flask - and in those days you could only get the glass lined ones!

Weather is definately on the decline. We have a slow deterioration forecast here in the Midlands with possible low nighttime temps of 6 by Sat Night. I am very lucky that my hubby is a great hot water bottle! From what is forecast it should be a good drying day here - must strip the beds today then - I will have to wait for everyone to get up tho first lol.

I looked at the weather forecast and decided to pick the last of my green outdoor tomatoes and let them ripen inside. Am not sure what to do about the grape vine. I normally try to leave the grapes on until October as the last late summer sunshine can make a difference to their sweetness. Not sure whether we're going to be making wine again this year. It's rather a fag, but if we don't, we may have too many eating grapes to cope with. I'd try drying them and using as sultanas but although they're supposed to be seedless, some of them do actually have small pips and if I included a pippy one in a pudding of some kind and one of us broke a tooth as a result, I would be very happy.

  • I have now prepared my bed for winter. I have put a thin quilt over the mattress and then my new electric fleece blanket on top and a normal fitted sheet on top. I had a £10 off voucher for Argos so bought the electric blanket and a juicer. I have changed my summer continental quilt to my 13.5 winter one. I tested the electric blanket a couple of mornings ago when I came in from work (I work night shifts) and it was very 'cosy'. I am hoping it will pay for itself over the winter. I used to put my central heating on for about an hour in the morning when I came in from work in the winter and heat my bed with a couple of wheat bags. However, there were obviously 'cold spots' and I am hoping that 10 minutes heating up my bed with the new electric blanket will be a lot cheaper than putting on the ch for an hour.
