    Hey everyone.
I have a very busy week this week, it seems to have been non stop since June.
However come next Monday I will be free and able to get my winter prep finished! My aim is to have it done before September. (Though because of money availability being tight the stocking up of food will probably run into October).
Hubby put the foil behind the radiators and we have the door curtains up, the boiler has been service, the gutters have been repaired as has the hob, hubby has new waterproof jacket (ive got mine from last year) we both have new shoes that are waterproof and have grippy soles. Hubby has new gloves and we both have new socks. MIL gave me 2 bags of clothes loads of jumpers in there and has told hubby he will be getting clothes for winter for his birthday so that will be new work trousers, dressing gown, jumpers.

    Still to do:
    Car kit
    medicine cupboard
    food stocks
find my scarves, gloves, hat (buy new if ive done away with them and forgotten)
buy some long jogging bottoms for me/leggings
    slippers for me
    sort both wardrobes
make the guinea pigs hutch covers and move them into the shed
    replace the fence panels

    i think thats everything :S
Everything is always better after a cup of tea

Ok very silly question alert :o I am looking at the curtains on the very website to get prices etc and it asks me quantity. Can i assume they sell the curtains in pairs and i only need 1 pair of curtains or are they asking me how many actual curtains do i need - told you it was a silly question. I just dont really want to order 1 and only receive in the post

So Preppers, do we believe the old theroy of lots of berries= cold winter? or is it natures response to previously hard winter?

Im only asking as around my way at the mo the trees/bushes of all sorts are groaning with berries, hanging lower than before as so heavy etc. One set of bushes I walk past almost daily for 3 years and Ive never seen berries on them, today I walk past and its heaving!!
I smile because I have no idea what is going on!

My blackcurrant bush is heaving with berries this year - definitely more than last year - so I would say that it's probably a response to last year's hard winter rather than a predictor of a bad one to come, otherwise it would have been heaving last year too.

I like the odd day like that but we had our letter from southern electric (who do both our gas and leccy) and our charges are going up 18% !!! Im all for companies making a profit 9otherwise be a charity) but they have made so much profit the increases dont seem to tally!!

AM going to lighting the place up with candles in autumn/winter I think:rotfl:

Curtains are sold in pairs - generally. So I would say it is a pair of curtains.

My grandfather used to use the berries as a barometer of a bad winter and the last three years his old sage advice has been right. The saying is that nature makes plenty for the birds to see them through and I tend to think that is right :D
