actually, when my daughter was younger the ladies at Clarks kept saying they grow out of their shoes every 6 weeks when they're quite small... mind you that might have been slightly exaggerated to guilt one into buying their expensive shoes but with my daughter it was certainly the case for many years... she's not quite 10 now and is just moving into ladies size 7 which might add credence to my claims :p:eek:

I'm quite lucky as my LO only seems to need new shoes every 3 months. I get him measured roughly every month though (my dad had horrible feet due to incorrectly fitting shoes so I'm paranoid of it happening to my son lol) Saying that, at 2 he has size 7 feet. He got his first 'proper' shoes at 1 and they were a 3.5. Everyone tells me he has big feet for his age :rotfl::rotfl:

I do let him run around barefoot if I can get away with it, need to get him thick socks for the Winter time (dodgy front door and LL won't do anything about it, its not water tight either sigh, saying that I still don't have gutters on the property, shes waiting for the better weather! They fell in November 2010 ... )

I have around 90 tealights too - OH bought them in Tesco in a bid to be romantic. He lit about 10 and instead of romantic thoughts I was thinking 'excellent, lets tick them off the list!' Haha.

Good grief _ I forgot to tell you all that if you have milkyhot drinks before bed time in the winter you should be looking at Horlicks, Ovaltine and Chocolate drink offers. Last year Morrisons did Horlicks on BOGOF so I stocked up. I can't believe I forgot that one!

My son was the same until he was 12. He cost me a fortune.
He now has size 11 feet.

Rainy-Days-- the street lights with the new bulbs have now been on straight for 48 hours so probably cost them the same as the normal bulbs. luckily my curtains in my bedroom are fully lined chocolate ones and blinds in the window recess so no real issue.

got some more camping socks which are quite warm 2 pairs for a quid in pounland

because those are energy saving i doubt the council will change them however if you use a dark coloured fleece as lining for your winter curtains they are then very much like black out blinds, you'll have some light spilling out the top of the window beyond the reach of the curtains but that's a bit like a free nightlight! i have a similar problem with bright lights outside both bedroom windows and the winter curtains are a blessing in that respect.

The housing association put a street light in that's right outside the front of the house & shines into DS2's room; the council have a streelight at the back that lights up the kitchen... As you say, free nightlights.

I got 3 curtain rails from Dunelm Mill last week, then got home & realsied the ones for my bedroom & the sitting room were £9.49 as opposed to £3.99 for Dunelm's own! So I took them back on Friday and had a look for Dunelm's own in the right size... Couldn't find them so came home with 4 blackout blinds instead :o One each for the bathroom & downstairs loo as we've not put window covering in these 2 rooms all the 4 years we've been here, and replacement ones for the kitchen window & back door which is in the kitchen. Then ones in there before were very thin, so it's very weird coming down to a dark kitchen now!

Went to a car boot sale this morning and gto a body warmer for DS2, motorbike jacket for DS1 - not that he's going to ride a motorbike yet as he's 15, but that's what it is - has removable lining & is waterproof, so will keep him warm and dry (and protect his elbows if he slips over in the snow ;) ).

Hi Cathy - Just wondered where you got your slim chest freezer from.. we have been thinking about one for a while and struggled to find one that fits where we are planning to put it.

    Hey mrs Rodgers

I ordered it on Friday evening from Currys and had it delivered for free on Saturday, I'm really happy with it. I had a space of 42 cms in my little utility room and it fits perfectly!

I spent this past few months looking on the local gumtree and local free ads papers but couldn't get anything so decided to splash out on it, it was £129.99 with free delivery.

what energy rating is that? i'm seriously considering getting a small one for myself. the fridge/freezer that was here when i moved in was great but it packed up last year and the landlord replaced it with a VERY small fridge/freezer so now not only can i not really do much batch cooking but i sometimes have to miss deals because there just won't be any room in the freezer for them!

i think the batch cooking and having fast tasty food alone would make it pay for itself in no time as i would stop ordering take aways on nights when i work really late... but i do want to get something fairly energy efficient.. time for some research me thinks

sure would be nice to be able to freeze bread and milk like others here, the price of uht milk has gone up so much it's often cheaper to buy fresh now! but unless i freeze it (which i can't do now) i have to buy uht as my only back up

It's an A rating, i hope this link works http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/norfrost-c2aew-b-chest-freezer-white-05270812-pdt.html

On the milk front, we as a family aren't heavy milk users although my son still loves a bottle of milk before bed. We where wasting milk with it going off within 2 days all the time, so I've started spending a wee bit more and buying cravendale it lasts for ages without going off and it's always on offer 2 for £3 in the supermarkets.

    Hello everyone!

This thread brings back fond memories as I keenly read a similar one in 2008 when I was on Maternity leave and heavily pregnant with my LO, I was worried how we would manage moneywise whist I was on SMP. Fast forward a few years and I am back, this time as I will be made redundant in December. Found it so useful before so looking forward to it again :p

Am trying to find an all in one snow suit for 20 month old, and a decent regatta style 3 in 1 for 8 year old but they're all so expensive even now in August.
