Hi Everyone, i'm working on a patchwork quilt at the minute, so far so good- going to take a good while to finish though but should be ready for october time. Also saw some draft excluders in boys reduced to 50p each, them sausage type that go along the bottom of the door. Going back tomorrow to pick up a few, cheap at that price rather then to make them!

i haven't a boyes near me. boohoo :( I think I shall have to crochet mine, use up all the old dregs of wool or get some cheepy chunky wool again.

Do those brush strips you attach to the bottom of the door work at all? or is a draught excluder a better idea

I'm keeping an eye on ebay now for a cheaper pair of decent uggs. I have reynaulds and they help my toes so much, i live in them all winter, but the imitation ones you can pick up for £5/£10 in town aren't great quality, so will try and get a pair online for a little more.

Im still wearing my Uggs:eek: I have now got 3 pairs and my feet are never out of them. The good thing is that im always cold so never sweat so my Uggs are still in pristine condition:T:T:T and ready for this winter's use.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Yes you can freeze them, but I also do it in the summer months.

I have one marked with a big do not drink sign on it, I freeze it then put it in the fridge on really hot days, stops it from working so hard and pop it back in the freezer at night ready for the next day.
My fridge is old and doesn't like working in the hot weather and this keeps it sooo much cooler.

You could do this with a milk carton or two of water as well
    My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).

I have a ton of scarves (pashmina style) so was just wondering if anyone had an idea of how best to store them?

I've kept them in a suitcase since last winter (along with hats, gloves, kaftans and other seasonal bits) but their a little musty smelling now so I've been trying to think of a better way to keep them?
Going to wash them all (will have to check the labels and check that that's ok actually first) and then pop them away ready for the change in season (which can not come quickly enough for me!)

When you've washed them can you put them in bags with sprigs of lavender or similar?

Where are you keeping that suitcase? I'd have a think about storing your pashminas in something airtight, with the pashminas wrapped in tissue-paper. You could pop one of those tumble-drier sheets in with them

The suitcase is currently on top of my wardrobe.

Ooh I'm liking the lavender idea, I have some that I bought to make little sachets with for my drawers so that could be the best route perhaps.

This could sound incredily blonde but where would I be able to get some airtight storage that isn't too expensive?

  • I like 'Really Useful Boxes' - not too expensive & very durable.

You could also put wrapped bars of soap in the box.

i'd be careful because there's been a lot of stuff on the news today about there being a lot of fake ugg boots and straighteners and things about. :(
