More snow during the night about another 10cm they reckon:eek:
We moved house last summer and I've been doing all of the draughtproofing/insulating methods. Thought that I couldn't do anything more with a three-outside-walled extension containing utility and toilet. Have been lighting a nightlight in a lantern overnight to try to prevent freezing pipes. Yesreday I discovered 2 open air brick vents behind things that we'd dumped in the utility 'just for now' Covered them with bubblewrap with masking tape yesterday and I swear that it's warmer in there this morning.:j
Might be worth another check if a room is really cold. (I also have vents under the kitchen base units but thought that I'd better leave them open....)

  • Put a fleece curtain up at our glass front door, between the door and the other lined door curtain. It's made a huge difference.:j

    OMG!!!!!!!!

It is so cold here this morning, -11.

I have just taken the dog for a quick (I'm talking 10 mins at the most) walk and I had to take my gloves off and put by fingers in my mouth to try and get them warm!

Sat here now with a bowl of porridge and a hot cup of tea which seems to have done the job in thawing me out.

    :D

Here is a picture of todays sat image, brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

My DH is South African, and those hailstones are quite small in comparison to some he's seen - as big as tennis balls he said. They can kill if they hit you, and have smashed windscreens.
