if the product itself does not bear the ghd brand name then they are just generic hair straightners which were falsely represented to you as ghd's.

if this is the case and the straightners don't say ghd on them then just bin the fake packaging and sell them as a simple set of hair straightners.

OP has already said that side by side, they look identical to GHD's - GHD's have their logo on.
Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??

Yeah, I've had my original ones since April 2005, which is why I had no qualms about buying another pair asap. They are definitely worth the money, 5 years works out to £20 a year - less than some people I know who don't use GHDs.

"if the product itself does not bear the ghd brand name then they are just generic hair straightners which were falsely represented to you as ghd's." - Unfortunatly, they are identical to my old ones - logo and all. :)

  • @theonlywayisup - Where did I say this was Factual? The 2 words say " I Personally" - meaning in MY opinion, MY personal view. Second the OP was not going to sell them on as GHD's just generic straighteners, she wasn't intending to deceive anyone, she just wanted to recoup a few quid, by selling them on. She posted a reasonable thread, asking for help to clarify an issue.

"Aside of this, something which is intentionally copied and intended to be sold as as item," - Note the AND intended to be sold as the item (meaning the real deal). She was not intending to to sell them on as GHD's, thus not deceiving anyone.

She would be breaking the law to sell them on as GHD's, but as generic straighteners, I don't see the issue.

Do you know something else re-reading this entire tread, your attitude is appalling and stand offish, this was a blog for help not for you to get on your bandwagon. I appreciate you also have a right to comment/ make an opinion. Its not what you say its the way you say it. I'd be very surprised if someone hadn't said that to you before.
If it wasn't for the mistakes I made in the past (and learned from), I wouldn't be who and where I am today. It doesn't matter if you've cocked up, what matters is that you put it right and apologise. x

Pester your card company. Do not be misled by them that because it is a topup card you are a lesser mortal. The visa debit chargeback has it's own thread re chargebacks on here. Persist and you may find it pay off. I will try and locate the thread but am on an Ipad so links are not that easy to do.:(

So which part of the OP saying she bought them as GHDS and has it confirmed they are fakes did you miss? Selling something as a fake is unlawful. I clarified that in my first post.

I can't be bothered with the rest of your post as it is drivel.

For the record, this forum is not for blogs. But I shan't correct any more of your rubbish.

Thanks, I pretty much went into the conversation with them assuming I wouldn't have any rights, due to it being a top up card, so I probably didn't fight as hard as I could have done. I'll give them another ring tomorrow and push it a bit further to see what they say. :)

I cannot find the thread on here, but I think from memory it was a news item rather than a thread. If it's any help, I found it when a theme park ticket agent for Florida went bust recently. But my Ipad and fingers dont work in unison.

However I did find this http://whatconsumer.co.uk/visa-debit-chargeback/ but it is the £100 which may be the stumbling block.

    For the last time.

The OP knows they are fakes - initial post in case you lost the plot. She was asking if she can resell them (for whatever reason is incidental).

I've got you on ignore now, so thankfully I won't endure any more.

EDIT - oh sneaky edit, just as I was quoting you.
  • So which part of the OP saying she bought them as GHDS and has it confirmed they are fakes did you miss?

I don't think she missed any part.

Selling something as a fake is unlawful. I clarified that in my first post.

Yes it is. They were sold to the OP as GHD's therefore the original (Chinese) seller was breaking the law. However I don't think it was the OP's intention to sell them as GHD's. I don't see the problem if she doesn't mention GHD's in the title or the description but simply states they are a generic brand of hair straighteners. I can't see that someone would then be disappointed in getting a generic brand of hair straighteners that looked like GHD's. If GHD is not mentioned in the title or description why would any one expect genuine GHD's?

    QUOTE]

Having said ALL that I personally would not recommend selling Chinese fakes as they will also have fake CE labels/marks on etc...due to the fact they probably did not pass any safety tests. I wouldn't want that on my conscience:(
