    Chilled or frozen? please

I got the BBQ lamb and beef skewers this pm and they were in the frozen section.
Erm I'm not sure if I've got the hang of this money saving.....I seem to be spending more money buying 'bargains' that I don't really need - oops!! :)

Asterisk definately means that it's a discontinued line. HOWEVER, if the store decides that that line was a popular seller, the store can override the system (as set by some plonker in HQ) and set the item back up so that more stock continues to come in. If that happens, a new label will be printed, as the system at store level will think that a new line has been introduced into store (which, of course, it hasn't). The new label should then go out on display, so that Stock Control can scan the label daily (providing that there's no matching stock on the shelf), thus telling the system that the store requires stock (known internally as Gap Scan). In most instances, no one bothers to replace the old asterisk label with the new one because most staff think "Who cares?" "It's the same price anyway".

And ergo the answer. Trust me - 5 (long, arduous and painful) years in Crapsco 2 of them as a Compliance Manager.
Thanks for that, I thought you would have the explanation:) Ever since discovering what the * signified about six months ago I've been watching loads of items that never seem to go down in price and are restocked. This is not just in one store but across the several local stores that I visit from time to time. THis could be that HO decide that an item will continue to be stocked but stores just don't print an updated label.

We had some of these BBQ packs when they were reduced down to 50p. Must have been last Novemberish.

Believe me that they are the cheapest tasting burgers and sausages I have ever had. I wouldnt buy them again even at that price.

The Basa fillets are not much better - ended up given them to my dog.

I was out and about today looking to see what valentine choc was marked down to. There was next to nothing left in 4 extra stores. I dont think i'll get anything for a penny as what little is left will probably sell in hours/days

But my day was brightened wben i found choc coins and lindt balls right out in the open on the shelf.

Does anyone know how Ts decide when to mark down to 1p? I have heard that stuff gets put on 75%, then 50%, then 25%. then 10% then 1p but dont know how long the process takes

Do you think its when their inventory tells them they only have X units left across the board or do you think its a month/2 months after RTC process starts? I've seen some RTC items today that i will be watching intently!!

  • Got some of these barbecue packs at my local T's and to be honest they really arn't worth 1p. I noticed that they were "reformed" and perhaps they would taste better on the barbecue.
