Just wondering if it worked? Would be a great way to price check lots of items without lugging them to the scanner
No but as soon as I find a working scanner I'm so trying it
Fab idea !!MSE- The Glitchhikers guide to the galaxy0 -
Probably a good idea to take a barcode pic at home rather than doing it in-store where you might attract attention.
I know that some phones need to have the screen brightness turned down before scanners can see the barcode. I have a key ring app that I stored my old CC details on but the tills could never scan it. Never did bother trying to see if I could get it to work.
Might give this a go this week myself. Will photograph a barcode, turn down the brightness then go shopping.0 -
Maybe we need a separate Welsh thread!!0

Koko truffles are still showing up as 1p on the price checker but when i went to ss it flagged up as unknown item, the guy took them off me! Not sure if it will go through on other tills, might be worth a try. I did manage to get a couple of dark blue dad rocks t-shirt for 75p and some 25p socks0

I will try scanning a barcode on my phone next time I go
Good idea Caz2703 about taking the picture before going, don't want to attract any un-necessary attention!0 -

Nah, it's the opposite way round, you need to turn the brightness up.0 -

Nope - brightness down as the glare interferes with the laser trying to scan. Tips from the net re Key Ring:Tip 1) Do not use Key Ring at flatbed scanners. Occasionally they will work but often they don’t.
Tip 2) Scan the barcode head-on! Do not scan from an angle. Otherwise, the laser will reflect off the screen and will not scan your barcode.
Tip 3) Turn your screen brightness down. Less bright light means less interference when scanning.
Tip 4) Keep your phone screen clean. Prior to scanning, remove all fingerprints and smudges.
Tip 5) Place the scanner 5 to 6 inches away from the screen. Any closer or further away and it’s unlikely the barcode will scan.0 -
